Hi guys

Not a massive piece of information - but quite exciting for us Brits.

Former Atlanta Thrashers netminder Scott Fankhouser has signed for the EIHL Manchester Phoenix for next season

I know he's not a superstar - but any goalie with NHL experience can dominate this league, as Frank Pietrangelo proved in the late 90's.

As a goalie fan I am super excited and can't wait to see him play when the visit my local Hull Stingrays

Sorry about the interruption - you can now all return to your regular NHL Free Agent threads

PS. If anybody has any Fankhouser cards, I think he could become a focus of mine for the next couple of months :D

I consider myself a hockey guru... one of those guys that eats, breethes, and sleeps hockey. One of those guys who's friends call him when they have any hockey questions... whether about players, the CBA, etc. One of those guys that know teams prospects inside and out... you get the idea.

But I can't for the life of me remember this guy or put a face to him. It sounds vaguely familiar.

Could it be that I'm slipping in my old age?

Nice bit of Info there Mal & I too like watching the other leagues wherever they are. There are other goalies in the european league that could be superstars here in the NHL but they probably figure why try when I can play here & be with my family, just my opinion.

Nice to see Scott pop up somewhere. I know Scott reasonably well from his days with the Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL.

He played 16 games for Atlanta in 99/00 ( 3.20 GAA & 0.891 SV% ) then another 7 with the Thrashers in 00/01 ( 3.69 GAA & 0.900 SV% ).

After that he dropped into the AHL with Hershey & Chicago and dropped further into the ECHL with Reading & Arkansas.

He's spent the last two seasons playing in Austria, and said he wanted to stay in Europe - I think he is friends with somebody on the Manchester Phoenix roster.

He has RC's in 99/00 including BAP Memorabilia, Crown Royale, Omega and the best of them being in SPA.

I'm hoping to pick a few up along the way - will definitely make the effort to go and watch him next season.
