Frustration with a live redemption???

This is super frustrating.
I have had the following card redeemed with Upper Deck since 07/17/2007 - Well over a year outstanding.
IGINLA/ ST.LOUIS/NASH/KOVALCHUK/ NASLUND
2005/06 NHL SPA SIGN OF THE TIMES FIVES AUTO CD# ISNKN

Since the day I redeemed it back in 2007 the status has shown "Autographs in house, cards in production process, expect some delays until completion. "

Now, looking on ebay I find this beauty - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180290471525

I have spoken with Barry and others at Upper Deck who told me that this card numbered to /6 had 4 live copies packed out and 2 redemptions that went out for it.

So I emailed the seller to ask if he pulled this card or where he received it and he responds back telling me that Upper Deck sent it to him as a redemption a while ago....


If thats the case then why don't they have the other card ready, or why can't they go slap some sticker autos on it and send it to me....


Barry was super helpful at first promising to have his manager look into my redemptions and that he would get back to me. Was quick to respond to me questions multiple times but has since stopped all communication with me and has not responded to any of my last 5 emails (all very polite, just asking about a status update on my cards that are over a year old in redemption hell).


How frustrating is this to see a redemption I have been waiting forever for pop up on ebay..

The redemption process once again. I guess UD are still proud of the way they handle redemptions.....Casey,are you?????

Buy the one on eBay, it may be the only one you'll ever see.
That sucks for you. Everytime I've seen one of my redemptions on eBay, my card usually arrives within a week or so.
 
Well I am hoping the Iggy collectors go for an all out bidding war on this card and drive it through the roof...

Then if they come back saying they are out of stock or anything I'll be able to demand high BV for the card..


I'm sure the card on ebay will go for an amazingly high amount of money which I can't afford right now (leaving for 3 weeks of vacation to Thailand right away)...


I'm more frustrated with the lack of response from upper deck more than anything. Barry was all friendly and helpful until he could stop delaying me on getting information..

June 3rd - Barry responds back same day to my question about whether any of the cards I have outstanding should be made. He answers that they all should still be completed (keep in mind I have a couple 06/07 Trilogy cards oustanding, an 06/07 Lettermarks of Gretzky, plus the 05/06 Fives card)

June 26th - He promised for the second time to check with his supervisor and get back to me as to a proper status of why some of these are so long outstanding (including the status of the fives card and what has happened with all of the lettermarks from 06/07). I emailed him on the 26th and heard back same day. His response was that he would check with his supervisor on the 30th.

July 9th - Asked for an update as to what he heard back from his supervisor. His response same day was that he hadn't heard back yet.

July 9th - I respond back to that asking if he is actually expecting a response from his supervisor or if I should just give up bothering him (actual words). He responds back again same day that he is "optimistic he will be hearing a response back soon"

Aug 21st - Send a followup email asking if he has any more info

No response

Aug 27th - Send another followup email.

No response

Sept 10th - Send another followup email.

No response

Sept 24th - Send another followup email with details about the card that hit ebay for the fives auto I have outstanding

No response as of yet...
 
Well not even 30 minutes after posting this I received a reply back from Barry. Of course its just another "I'll look into it message" but hopefully he'll be able to find something out.
 
Barry's a good guy, but rendered less effective by his organization. His manager is a twit, and the company doesn't lend itself well to taking care of customer concerns.
 
You're getting jerked around on this one for sure. Call and ask to talk to Barry's superior. If Barry can't fix the problem, at this point, I'd recommend finding someone who -can- fix your problem.

If he denies you access to talking to his superior, then off to the BBB about another UD problem.

When does the new redemption program supposed to open?

Problem with this is if Barry can't fix it, no one else can. His superiors are a bunch of toolsheds, if Barry can't answer it or get it handled, no one can.
 
I have not dealt with Barry, and have not had a problem with a redemption thus far.

But let me tell you this I can not imagine a single foreseeable problem that should require MONTHS to answer concerning a cards availability - either you have it in stock, are expecting it in stock, or do not have a card sorry here's three packs of victory for you instead.

If Barry won't give you an answer, I see no harm in trying someone else. If I were the OP, I would really appreciate an answer, even if it's not the one I want to hear.

Unfortunately Barry is pretty much the top of line you can speak with since his title is "Customer Service Team Lead"

I just want to know whats happening with this card and the 06/07 Lettermarks and 08/09 NumberMarks.

Hopefully the lettermarks and numbermarks get completed with this years SPGU (Since I'm assuming they will continue the trend)..

Then again the 06/07 Lettermarks should have been done with the 07/08 SPGU with that thinking..........
 
I would personally go the route of the BBB, im sure that they will be happy to fire off a nice little "get your thumb out and get your butt in gear" type letter to them in hopes of resolving your situation.

Good luck with getting your card, I gave up on my Spezza/Getzlaf dual auto from rookie update... same promises each time that the card would finally be made until i hit the two year mark and asked for an exchange.... maybe thats what they hope that you will finally do.
 
Ask for Barry if you haven't already, I do every time, and he's more than responsive about his email answers too.
 
Im sorry to say if these companies cant produce the redemption within 45 days of the release of the product they should put them in. All it does is get collectors mad and angry about collecting a certain brands product.

Again, nothing against Barry, but if "customer service team lead" is the top of the line - who is he waiting on answers from? And if he's waiting on them from someone over his head, after months of waiting, I would want to talk to whomever that person may be. I don't think that's so unreasonable.

Like I said previously, if that person doesn't have an answer, then off to the BBB.
 
It really seems to me that the UD motto is "keep the left hand from knowing what the right is doing" either that or "let's see if we can run this ship aground". It really seems as tho they are government run doesn't it.
