Game Used.... Handshake?!

The only player I have actually shaken hands with is Mario Lemieux. His son used to practice at the same rink as me when I was still playing in college. I was running late for practice one day and he was coming out of the locker room at the same time. After I picked up my jaw I managed to get my brain to work enough to thank him since it was just after the Pens reached their arena deal.

Unfortunately, none of his talent spread to me.

Funny, I went to the same oldtimers game here in Vancouver a couple days ago and also shook Mr. Cheevers hand plus got an autographed picture as well.

My best,

Ken

Now that you mention it every time Ive met a player I always walk away after a "thank you for your time" and a handshake. I hate weak handshakes.

Side note: When I was about 10-11 years old I met one of my dads friends and shook his hand "like a girl." He told me to shake like a man. When I did, he squeezed me hand so damn hard I remember his face better than mine.

My short list includes -

Gerry Cheevers - At the oldtimers game..I actually bought an auto :owned:
Vincent Lecavalier - Great guy, met him at a Flames morning skate
Mike Babcock - My dad is buisness partners with him

I tried to shake Ken Daniels' hand (FSN Detroit play by play) at a hotel in Nashville, but he was a real jerk about it. The smug was radiating off of him.

I don't have a list of players but I do Handshakes all the time. I never ask for an auto. I go fishing all the time in the summer with Kurt Sauer and he always asks if I want an auto but I always tell him when he's done with hockey I will get one:) Hockey players are the best there are for Pro Sports players when it comes to signings or just getting a handshake

I have always wanted to shake Ron McLean's hand... he has got to be the best non-playing hockey personality out there.... although I did hear that he reffed a game once in the NHL!

Agreed entirely. I never got a sense of cockiness coming off of him in his rookie season.

-m.

I also like to add that this is when he came out after a game. A game where they lost a big one(game in Vancouver). Originally he went to the bus but quickly stepped out(probably because he saw a person from his home town that he knew). Talked to him and then he went to me and another fan and signed/posed for pics. From the look on his face, he was pretty disappointed but was kind enough to interact with the fans. He might have told Mason to get out because as he went on the bus, all of the sudden Mason came out(I'm guessing the guy who knew Nash must have told him that the young kid wanted to meet Mason as well. What sucks is that guy asked who I wanted to meet and I was like, yeah Nash, anyone would be cool though. I should have been specific and said Nash and Boll). Also he remembered who I was. I was nervous and my words were, "you probably don't remember me." Nash goes, " I do, the practice guy right?" Knowing who I was, I surprised he stuck his hand out. I would have thought that he would have ran off, thinking to himself, "him again"
