Gamers...what are you playing right now?

Matt,
I know you're a wrestling guy so I would highly recommend a place called "The No Mercy Zone". Mods, move hacks, new arenas and match hacks. More than you could possibly think of.

There are two great Indy saves already released as well as a top notch TNA and WWE save. I haven't played NM much in the past 18 months or so, but one guy is doing a WWF Legends save and what he's done so far is nothing short of incredible.

You should definitely check it out.

Hey Ryan...I appreciate the heads up, but we play on the original console and not on an emulator...as well...I'm not really a current wrestling guy...so removing the old wrestlers in lieu of current ones wouldn't be of any benefit to me since I have a bigger interest in Right to Censor than Randy Orton just based on the era I watched. It does sound intriguing though, especially if they've replaced all the entrance music somehow.

I believe music was the only thing they couldn't change, although a guy who had pretty much hacked the unhackable was "working on it". Something cool to check out if you ever decide to look into it further.

Yeah, sure. Blame it on the female! ;)

By the way, how's the new Street Fighter game?

the game itself is good but the 3D graphics when they zoom in for the special attacks are kinda lame. i mean considering how much time they had in between SFIII: Third Strike and this, i expected a bit more with the 3D stuff.

don't get me wrong, it's still a good game but out of all the SF games, i like SFIII: Third Strike the best.

next up: UFC Undisputed :D

I think I've proven myself to be too much of a Street Fighter elitest over the last few days with my friends. My biggest disappointment with the HD Remix was that they didn't keep a direct port of the original...well past the sprites (I would've loved for the music to stay around too.) I don't care much for the new musical arrangement or voice acting. It might just be my traditional ways. Street Fighter got way too complicated for my liking after Alpha 2 Gold. Once they started chiming with focuses and styles, it was a bit much for me.

I'm happy they stuck Rose back in the game though...I used to love using her in the first Alpha. I didn't even know they put her in the home version until a couple days ago when a friend of mine was telling me, but couldn't remember her name and kept insisting she was a new character. The conversation was something like this:

Him: "Hey they put this new chick character in Street Fighter IV for 360"
Me: "Crimson Viper?"
Him: "No, this she does tarot card readings"
Me: "Rose from Street Fighter Alpha?"
Him: "No, she fights with a sash"
Me: "Sounds like Rose"
Him: "and she can absorb fireballs in her sash"
Me: "Sounds like Rose"
Him: "No, her name's not Rose. She's Italian"
Me: "Sounds like Rose"
Him: "and she has some weird past with M. Bison"
Me: "Sounds like Rose"
Him: "and she's apparently really weak unless she absorbs projectiles"
Me: "Sounds like Rose"
Him: "Stop saying that! It's not Rose!"
Me: "Seriously, go look it up. It's either Rose, or a ripoff of Rose, like Daisy or Geranium or something"
Him: "It's not Rose. I looked it up and it's Rosa or Rosie something like that"
Me: "Come on...."

I walked away at that point.

At least he's allowed to Tina. :D

If I so much as open my mouth every time mine falls down a cliff, chasm or fjord in the lego games, I get shot a dirty look and told to shut up in advance :D

Offline- Lego Indiana Jones, NHL Hitz 2003( Love this game just need Pro to complete the series lol) Madden,NCAA Football 08
Online- Halo 3, Left 4 Dead(not much, till new DLC comes out), Skate 2

Nick

You guys are nuts...NBA Jam TE was only done right on the SNES. I lost my entire summer of 1995 playing Jam TE and Rock and Roll Racing with my neighbor. :D

I should probably add that No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 for N64 are regularly played at my house too...but only when the guys come over. One of my friends has a strange fascination with making Bull Buchanan the WWF champion

Sounds like the games I play somewhat regularly on the console.

What does DLC mean?? And if you don't play Left 4 Dead much, can I trade for it? :D I can NOT find it anywhere here in St. John's!

360 gamer here...

NHL 09 - I figured it was finally time to jump on XBL so I've been playing a fair amount of team play games.

Overlord - What a fantastic game. I hadn't finished it despite owning the bloody thing since release so I've been mowing through that.

Left 4 Dead - One of the best multiplayer experiences I've had in years. it never gets old running through the campaigns.

If anyone is up for a few games my gamertag is Big Tall Guy

L4D is the only reason I would consider buying an XBox right now...it looks great.

And I've played the demo for RE5. I have no issues with the game. I prefer the old stop and shoot, as it makes for a more hectic experience. But I've heard that there are different control schemes on the retail version, including the ability to run and shoot for those who can't hack it the other way.

We picked up Left 4 Dead at EB Games. From first impressions last night, and I'm still light-headed and dizzy from the first-person viewpoint. My boyfriend liked it, but I feel there was more hype than substance. Too chaotic, not much of a storyline, not enough strategy.

Gears of War 2 is soooo much better. Dom searching for his wife, Marcus and Anya...all in the midst of saving the world! Guess I'm just a sucker for some drama. :)

Someone that agrees with me about Left 4 Dead? I can't believe there's another one of us. Everytime I've seen/played Left 4 Dead, I just sit there going "Oh boy here come more high speed zombies...yep and others. Oh no the old guy was captured...oh wait he's free. Here's the saferoom...and...I'm done"

Most of it is probably because I don't much like FPS games. I haven't owned an FPS since Perfect Dark on the N64 (with the exception of the first 3 CoD games for 360 that came in a lot purchase) and don't believe I've missed anything. Every FPS I've played since Perfect Dark (my friends tend to own all the new FPS games as they come out) haven't been any fun to me, with the possible exception of CoD 4...they all just come off the same to me.

Of course...my taste in games often leave something to be desired. I just finished the ever glitchy Bully SE last night and am trying to 100% it by doing all the menial tasks :p

Ending was weak on 2, but the overall game play was great. Chainsaw battles rock my socks.

I think I'm gonna pick up Legends of Wrestlemania for 360 when it comes out next month. Really not feeling an Ipod anymore and I've got a $100 gift card to use. Hopefully, something cool will be out on DVD so I can just use that sucker up.

Ryan...if you pick it up Legends of Wrestlemania, please let me know how it is because we're dying to know and don't want to take the plunge unless it's any good (I heard it's supposed to be arcade style, and don't want it to be Royal Rumble for Dreamcast-esque.) The roster is a bit of a headscratcher too. I'm the world's biggest (and possibly only) Kamala fan...but the only Wrestlemania I can remember him being on the card for is IX, and his match with Bam Bam got nixed due to time restraints. He may have been on the battle royale at Wrestlemania XVII because I seem to remember a backstage skit with William Regal where Regal was yelling "HE WANTS ME TO RUB THE MOONS ON HIS BELLY?" but I don't know if that was at the event or on Raw.

I'm just wondering how hard they stretched to get some of this roster...I understand that they'll never get Demolition, Randy Savage and Lex Luger in the game because of the circumstances in which they left, lawsuits caused by or the fact that McMahon doesn't want to do business with them anymore, but there's no reason the game couldn't have Edge, Christian, the Hardyz, Windham and Rotundo, Hillbilly Jim, Bob Backlund, Paul Orndorff, Rick Steamboat, Shane O'Mac and Eddy Guerrero. Orndorff was in the main event of the first one for crying out loud. I'm assuming they aren't able to put in the likes of Mick Foley, Kevin Nash and Kurt Angle because of their contracts with TNA, so that's not something that's really in their realm of control.

Half of me sort of wonders that why with the inclusion of 10 other deceased wrestlers, they were unable to secure estate rights to Owen Hart, especially since they're on good enough terms to secure Bret and Davey Boy. Owen would have been a welcome inclusion, imo.

I guess there's always DLC. It would've been nice to see a women's roster. They'll never get Madusa in the game to come back as Alundra Blayze, but that doesn't stop the ability to get Moolah, Leilani Kai, Sherri, Trish, Lita and Ivory. Oh well. Just my usual bantering :D

Gameplay I'll have to let you know about, but your question about the roster I CAN address:

From what I've read, Savage, Angle, Foley and Nash didn't make it in because of contract issues or something personal with McMahon. As for Edge, Hardyz, etc--apparently, if you have SVR 09, you can cross-play both games. Basically, you can download that roster and use it in Legends. So that will be nice.

My main hangup is the size of the Legends roster. In all honesty, I may rent it as I don't have a ton of patience and kind of want to just spend this thing on some DVD's (hello, Pineapple Express!). Regardless, I'll be trying it.

Yeah, the Savage thing is a long running personal issue. I don't know the whole story behind it, but I've heard Savage committed verbally to return to the WWF, and after letting his contract expire, showed up in WCW much to McMahon's dismay. Angle and any of the TNA guys I wasn't expecting in the first place, but I think it's a bit weird Orndorff and Steamboat aren't there, and like I said...much as I like Kamala, he's got no business there, having never performed at a Wrestlemania. Even the Red Rooster has more right to be in the game. But, the nice thing is...there's always DLC.

btw...one thing I didn't know was the fact that you could cross-play both games, which is awesome. Keep me posted on how it turns out when it comes out next month :)

Foley and Angle seemed to be because of some bitterness with Vince more than anything, at least that's what I've read. The Savage story, as far as I've heard, is that Savage was being phased out of a wrestling role towards the end of his WWF run and wasn't happy, leaving for WCW.

Lex Luger is known for giving Vince his word on staying, then showing up on the first Nitro the day after wrestling a show for the WWF.

Gotta love the drama of wrestling :)

I thought Foley and Angle couldnt be in any game with the WWE right now cause they are both under contract with TNA ????

It very well may be, after all, you can't believe everything you read on the net :) But the game was in the works before Foley's departure and there were rumors he wouldn't be in because of some heat between he and Vince, so who knows.

You would think some of these guys would put these things behind them to get paid (Hulk Hogan, anyone?) but apparently even Vince has standards.
