Gamers...what are you playing right now?

Anybody with 80 spare MSP on 360 go to the Indie Games section and get Breath of Death VII. It's a Spoof RPG and is entertaining as hell. Well worth the buck.

After the boundless disappointment in War for Cybertron, I elected to pick up Lego Harry Potter for the Wii.

MUCH better game.

Went down to Willow Video in Langley after a trip to the Flea Market so the wimmins could go look at plants while Adam (Mustache Collector) and I walked around...and between that and a Rogers closeout sale picked up

Guitar Hero II (probably won't play it...just for the purpose of rounding out the GH games)
Guitar Hero 5
Guitar Hero World Tour
Saboteur
Godfather II
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust (hoping at least SOME of the Al Lowe magic carried over)

Have only touched the GH "band" cames and LSL so far. GH is standard fodder...I've been more engrossed in the GHTunes modules to see what people have uploaded. There's a guy by the name of Lambinator who went through and did these fantastic Sonic 1 and 2 medleys (though he omitted a few goodies from Sonic 2 like Oil Ocean and Sky Chase...the former of which I imagine must be tough to synthesize into a game like Guitar Hero) ... I only spent $20 on Guitar Hero 5, but oddly enough, those freebies made the purchase validated before you touch Du Hast and some of the other songs in game

Box Office Bust is Box Office Balls though...a sandbox style LSL game sounds awesome, but they messed up camera angles, and the game speed is awful, as are Larry's capabilities in game...I only ended up paying like $8 for it though, so I'm not out much.

I've only played God Father 2 of the ones you mention but I really enjoyed it. It did get a touch redundant but it wasn't bad.

EA's Sandbox style games tend to be hit or miss, but I've heard good things about both Saboteur and Godfather II so when I get to them, I look forward to them.

I tried 'em both. I found Godfather II to be God-awful imo. I was not impressed at all, and I actually prefered the first game. Saboteur is a good game (worth the 20$ i spent on it) It is a lot like a GTA mixed with elements of Assassins creed (climbing and whatnot) and the whole Noire concept is really neat. It does get a little repetitive though.

Playing the following right now...

-Puzzle Kingdoms for the DS (crappy but mildly addictive. From the same guys that made Puzzle Quest)
-Fight Night Round 4 for 360
-The usual mix of music games. I bought Band Hero last week since it was $20...good track list, but Adam (Mustache Collector) and I run into the program where nobody wants to play with us anymore :p

Picked up AC2 at Future Shop a few weeks back on sale for $20. Thoroughly enjoyed - yes, not a revelation to anyone. Then I happened to be at best buy and decided to grab AC1.

Someone should explain to these shops that if they really wanna push the "used games" end, there needs to be more price differentiation between used and new. Used copy: $15. New copy - $20.

You have to go to more private places for that (ie. single branch used game stores.) There's a place here called Willow Video Games out in Langley whose used game prices beat the pants off new game prices. They were selling used copies of Final Fantasy XIII 2 months after release for $30 and used copies of UFC 2010 for $35 the same time afterward. Meanwhile, EB was selling used copies of both for $65 each...only $5 off the new purchase price.

to your point matt, i really don't get the reasoning for EB games' pricing. seriously.

for $5 bucks more i can get a brand new game, why would i pay $50+ for a used game where the disc can be slightly scratched and the manual has pages stuck together by a combination of bodily fluids and cheetos/chocolate stains?

Profit margins and nothing else, really. If you're an EB Edge Member, you get 10% off their used games, so that $65 becomes $58.50, which pays for the Edge card purchase and then some. At $10 below retail, it now becomes slightly more enticing to these Edge card members, moreso when you consider I've seen some of these games on the shelf used 3 or 4 days after release...especially when EB has their guaranteed payback system for newer games, where you can return a brand new game a week after purchase and receive your purchase back in store credit.

Just downloaded the NHL11 demo for PS3 and I am really liking it. Sucks you can only play 3rd period but I can live with that for another month. I haven't really figured out the ultimate team thing yet but it looks intriguing.

Matt - it's a less convincing argument to those of us on Gamer Savings Time.

Agreed...I don't go out of my way to find/go to these private places. In fact, the one in Langley is usually just a stopoff on the way home if I'm in the area, which isn't more than once or twice a year.

Still...for the two or three in the area I can think of, their prices are far cheaper than the EBs, Future Shops and Best Buys...and even eBay in many cases.

I buy my games at the Flea Market or on various trade promotions. For instance, at Future Shop, I traded in Super Mario Galaxy 1 and Wario Shake it and got a new copy of God of War 3 and a brand new Sony Dualshock controller for free....if I buy from the guy at the local market, I get new games for about 30-60% off retail......I picked up Bioshock 2, (still sealed) two months after release for $20. Seemed like a hella deal to me.....I barely give any business to EB anymore....
