Season series: The Washington Capitals won their two games last season against the Chicago Blackhawks by 3-2 scores, including the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Nationals Park. Alex Ovechkin had a goal and assist in the outdoor game, and Troy Brouwer scored the game-winning goal on a power play at 19:47 of the third period. Brandon Saad scored a goal in each game for Chicago.
