Ducks, Kings each claim underdog role in Game 7

Big story: The Los Angeles Kings will try to win a sixth consecutive elimination game and advance to the Western Conference Final for the third straight year, and the Anaheim Ducks are looking reach the NHL's final four for the first time since winning the Stanley Cup in 2007.

For the second straight round, a series featuring two teams from California will need a winner-take-all Game 7. Anaheim and Los Angeles have scored 13 goals apiece in this series, just as the Kings and San Jose Sharks each scored 21 before their deciding game.

Kings coach Darryl Sutter said after Game 6 that his team is the underdog. Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau disagreed Thursday.

"Does anybody believe … you can ask anybody [in the media] who they think the underdog is, and the underdog is us," Boudreau said. "They've already went through five Game 7's in the playoffs already. They've been there. They've won the Stanley Cup. I thought it was pretty funny when Darryl said that, and he actually said it with a straight face. I don't know who he's trying to buffalo, but it sure isn't us."

Let's see what style of game it is today. Expecting the ducks to come out flying at home but the kings really need the first goal. Pretty much all of the stars outside of gaborik haven't scored in the series so really looking to get some production at the top of the lineup.

Really like a bunch of players from each team. My kid really likes LA esp Quick and I like Brown, Richards and Carter. However I really like Getzlaf and Perry and who don't love Selanne. Should be a good game.

Exactly what I expected. Kings come though in a big game, Ducks fold.

Blown call there, I want the Ducks to win but not on a BS call on Doughty.

This is not good for my boys, the Kings will have that extra motivation to beat Chicago after getting bounced last year by them.

And as I type this, 3-0 LA now, DAMMIT!!!! Come on Ducks, you got to get back in this in a hurry, worst scenario possible for the first period. I don't think any team out there could come back from a 3 goal first period defecit against the kings and Quick. Ugh, Hawks vs Kings part deux coming up....
