Season series: The New York Islanders and Calgary Flames will play for the second and final time. Calgary won 4-2 at Nassau Coliseum on Feb. 6.

Big story: The Islanders are probably glad to be playing on back-to-back nights after watching a 2-0 lead in the third period turn into a 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. Calgary has won two of its past three games, including a 4-1 victory against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
 
I'll be at this game sporting my Bossy Islanders jersey!!! Sad I won't see Tavares again but get to see Strome for the first time!

Glencross. Galiardi. D Jones. Stajan. Westgarth. Hudler (maybe).

Plus they traded away Stempniak and Berra at the deadline and didn't bring bodies back. So that's 8 regulars either injured or traded.

They had a very inexperienced lineup vs the Sens the other night but they all played really well. Six guys from Abbotsford dressed: Granlund, Ortio, Byron, Knight, Reinhart, Hanowski ... and it looks like Wotherspoon is up tonight.

The team that's really suffering is Abbotsford. Here's to hoping some CHL teams get knocked out early in the playoffs (Klimchuk, Poirer), plus I'm sure there is a Johnny Gaudreau jersey made up and ready to go should they be able to coax him away from college. Bill Arnold and Kenny Agostino too.

Tyler Wotherspoon will make his NHL debut for the Flames tonight. Calgary is going to get a good look at a lot of their future through these remaining games this season.
 
Win or lose the young guys sure are energetic and entertaining. You can see the chemistry they've developed, and I'm enjoying watching them.
 
Nice to see that Joe C leads the charge on the night that Joe (who?) gets raised to the rafters. I think he's just starting to realize how good he can be. The only thing he's lacking is confidence. And Sean Monahan has been very good since the break (not that he wasn't good before). His game seems to have found a new level. No way would he have made that move to the backhand earlier in the season in that close to the net.

Lots of the young guys are showing promise. Granlund looks like an NHL-er as well, he's been a pleasant surprise. And Ortio looks solid. Corbin Knight has flown under the radar but he looks like a solid third-line centre.

A lot of the credit needs to go to the vets like Gio, Stajan and Cammalleri. I think those guys have been the difference between this rebuild and the epic failure currently going on to the north of us.
