Season series -- This is the second of four meetings between the teams. Dwayne Roloson made a League-high 58 saves on Nov. 23 to lead the Islanders to a 4-3 overtime win at the Air Canada Centre. Josh Bailey scored the game-winner.

Big story -- Just when it seemed as if they handed the Boston Bruins a lottery pick in the Phil Kessel deal, the Maple Leafs have turned things around and are suddenly in the playoff hunt. With points in eight of their past 10 games, Toronto enters Wednesday's action just five points from the No. 8 seed.

Injury report -- Isles forwards Tim Jackman and Sean Bergenheim suffered injuries during Tuesday's loss and will not play against the Leafs. Andy Sutton (groin) is out, but could return on Saturday. Doug Weight (upper body) hopes to return later this month, along with goaltender Rick DiPietro (knee), who is currently with the team's AHL affiliate in Bridgeport on a conditioning assignment. Radek Martinek (torn ACL) is out for the season. … Leafs goalie Jonas Gustavsson (heart rate) is out 7-10 days, while defenseman Carl Gunnarsson (elbow) and forward John Mitchell (knee) are expected to return in January. Mike Van Ryn (knee) is out for the season.

Stat pack -- The Islanders had been one of two teams not to surrender a shorthanded goal before Philadelphia's Mike Richards got one on Tuesday. … Toskala had gone 11 appearances without having a two-goal lead to work with until the Leafs' second-period assault on Monday night.

reminder: shoot at the twine (hell, even the post) but don't shoot right AT the goalie.

go :leafs: go!

JT strikes again. 2-2...

Bad giveaway by the Islanders...Jason Blake pots his 4th in 3 games.

3-2 Leafs with 40 seconds left.

Go Leafs.

Roloson looked like he wanted to punch a couple guys in the face with his blocker.

The Leafs defense played good I thought. Got 2 of the goals.

They look like they are starting to gel. Komi, Beauch, and Schenn have all looked better and Toskala had another good game with the ever important timely saves. Dont look now but we are only 5 points out of 7th and 6 out of 8th. I thought they had no chance but it will still be very difficult considering the log-jam of teams in front of us.

Still good enough for a win though, and yeah the people who were saying we'd never win a game...look now. We're almost on their doorsteps and yet we don't have all the "talent"supposadly heheh.
