Penguins - Red Wings Preview with it being available for view here: CBC (HD), NBC (HD), RDS (HD) and a scheduled TV start of 8:00pm EDT.

Call this one the Fickle Finals.

Two games into the Stanley Cup championship series, all signs pointed to a Red Wings redux. They may be older and more worn-down than the youthful and energized Pittsburgh Penguins, but experience, guile and winning history seemed more than enough to carry Detroit to a repeat.

That's how it played out last year. The Red Wings won the first two games in Detroit, split the next two in Pittsburgh, then wrapped up their 11th championship in six games.

Why would this time be different?

A 5 1/2-minute stretch in the second period of Game 4 Thursday turned around the series, and the opinions of many watching it. Instead of carrying a 3-1 lead back to Hockeytown, the defending champions are locked in a 2-2 fight.

Game 5 is Saturday night in Detroit, and a return to Pittsburgh for Game 6 is a sure thing.

"If you listen to what people on the outside say, Pittsburgh was done after two games. I don't think anybody in our locker room thought that," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said Friday. "Now if you listen to what people on the outside say, the Red Wings are done after two games. I don't think that's what we think.

"What we think is that we've got a best of three, with two in our building, and we're going to come here and play well."

After the NHL crammed the first five games into an eight-day stretch, including back-to-back contests to start the series, there will be two days off before Games 6 and two more before 7, should it go the distance.

That could be what the Red Wings need to get their legs back. The return of leading scorer Pavel Datsyuk, who has missed seven games due to a foot injury, would provide a major boost.

This is now a best outta three game series... ;)

Detroit still has the upper hand with the home ice advantage, but the Pens have the momentum.

Should be a fine finish to the 08-09 season.

Unless, of course, the Wings implode and allow Malkin and Sid to ride roughshod over them in two straight games.

I can dream, can't I? :)

I can't see the Pens winning 4 straight against the redwings so I think it will go to a seventh game and I think the Pens can win one game in Detroit to take home the cup.

A very nice dream indeed......narrowly edging out the one with Jenny McCarthy in it for top spot ..........;);)

Pens need to take one game in Detroit and it would be great if it was this one. Would love to see the Pens win the Cup at home.

GO PENS!

Change Jenny out for Kate Beckinsale and you have it right.:D;)

It goes without saying that this is an important game for both, but probably more for the Red Wings, since the elimination game would be on the road if they lose. I suspect they will come out flying. Pens will have to hold them off for the first ten minutes and hope for some puck luck and hard work out of the third line again.

looking forward to see this one! I'm not a huge fan of any of them, so may the best team win. I was surprised Pens won both at home so anything can happen even if my guess is that Wings win this- Pens the next, and we'll have an ideal 7-game series.

So, game six should be a good one, eh?

What a slash by Crosby! I hope Zetterberg's leg will fuse back together.

A little payback for Sid's dive in game four, I guess.

Class acts those Penguins are! Wings implode in game 4, Pens implode game 5! Also lets not either team talk about momentum anymore. It doesn't mean squat!

Travis - please don't take this the wrong way. BUT, from reading your numerous million opinions over the past while, and the fact that you seem to have played the game and reffed it for 50 or 60 years with all of your tales, I have a couple of questions.

1) Are you saying it wasn't a slash?

2) Are you saying there is no way the slash could have hurt?

If your answers are Yes, then there is no way on God's Green Earth you are looking at things subjectively.

Again, the first part was written with a bit of scarcasm.
