Last 10: Dallas 5-3-2; Los Angeles 9-1-0

Season series: This is the second of three games between these former Pacific Division rivals. In the first game at Staples Center on Oct. 20, Justin Williams scored twice to help the Los Angeles Kings beat the Dallas Stars, 5-2.

Big story: The Kings will try to continue the best start in franchise history when they welcome the Stars on Monday. That record pace has been set, in part, by the emergence of rookie goaltender Martin Jones (8-0-0, 0.98 goals-against average), who could set a record with his ninth straight win to begin a career.

Who's hot: Williams scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season against Colorado. He has 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) in 29 career games against Dallas.

Injury report: In addition to Gonchar, Stars defensemen Aaron Rome (lower body), Trevor Daley (ankle) and Stephane Robidas (leg) are all on injured reserve. … Kings defenseman Willie Mitchell (upper body) is day-to-day, while Quick (groin) is expected back in late December/early January.

Boston should have kept him.

I would agree with you, except that they're loaded down the middle. His only option was to play the wing in Boston. It reminds me of the Cody Hodgson situation, except in Boston they even have a top notch third line Center.

Boston should have kept him.
One of the players Boston received from Dallas is 22 year old Reilly Smith. He's having a great season(for his standards) so far as well. In 37 games, he has 12 goals and 16 assists. If he could keep this up(not just for this season, but for other seasons) the loss of Seguin might not hurt Boston too much.
*not saying Smith is in the same level as Seguin

Smith has been phenomenal. But as far as Seguin goes, Boston didn't believe he was a bad player. He simply didn't fit into the system. Everyone knew he'd be great in Dallas plus he has a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove. With that said , I hate the "Boston must be kicking themselves" comments. Last I checked they are one of the best team in the league. As of Kate, they have been playing great with basically 5-6 guys in rotation from Providence. They will be fine without him. Boston had never liked that superstar player, and don't expect that to change with Claude or Chiarelli in place.
