JETS (14-11-2) at MAPLE LEAFS (15-12-1)

TV: CBC (HNIC)

Last 10: Winnipeg 7-2-1; Toronto 4-5-1

Season series: This is the third and final matchup this season between two Canadian franchises battling for their first playoff berth in some time. The teams split the previous two matchups, with the Jets topping the Leafs 5-2 on Tuesday in Winnipeg. The Jets held a 3-1-0 advantage in this series last season.

Big story: This game could prove valuable for both teams' playoff fortunes, especially after the Jets' 3-1 win on Thursday placed them in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. But while Winnipeg is surging at the right time, the Leafs are looking to right their ship in the hopes of making the postseason.

Another pathetic display of sitting on a 1-0 lead. When will they learn to keep it going, and not sit back? I sound like a broken record night, after night! In about 90 minutes, we'll most likely be sitting in 8th place, and fading fast.

Well, the rest of the world can breathe easy now
the real Leafs have emerged.:|:| The Jets aren't
this good. The Leafs are that brutal!!! Now don't
get me wrong, the Jets are playing well but...

This game is a perfect example of why I feel so bad for Ondrej Pavelec.

Byfuglien is a great offensive d-man, but he's been his usual brutal self in his own zone, while Clitsome and Meech should really be in the AHL. Even at their best, this team really doesn't have "that guy" on defense who can be counted on in tough situations. Bogosian has some talent but hasn't proven himself to be a number-one guy yet, and Enstrom when healthy is similar to Buff. Good on O, bad on D. The Leafs haven't been taking a ton of shots, but the chances they get are quality...same thing Pavs puts up with all the time.

The Jets are entertaining, but they need back-end help to become an elite team.

8th place now? Oh wait, I forgot about Carolina dropping down below Toronto from 3rd to 8th. Tied with New Jersey with 32 points in 6th. I suppose they get the 6th seed because of a better goal differential? Doesn't matter, because if they continue like this, they'll be in 12th in no time.

Can somebody explain to me why the **** you have guys like Phaneuf and Kulemin taking shootout shots before Grabo. I guess Grabo's gone at the deadline or the offseason.

They showed a number of holes in Grabo's game during the pregame. Someone would have to be desperate to take on his $6 mil salary, and $5.5 mil cap hit. It's amazing to me that he's making the same as Kane and Toews this year, and a lot more then plenty of other guys who are way out producing him.

Grabo is the second best shootout shooter they have. Sending a message is one thing but not putting him out there on a 10 player shootout means he's as good as gone. Very bad decision on Caryle's part. May have cost yourself a point and the way the standings are 1 point could be the difference between getting in the playoffs or not.
