Verified Trader,
I have been posting constant updates about my sets in progress (2005-06 UD game patches /15, jerseys, rookies threads and 1957 topps) and I mentioned in one post about the possibility of attempting an autographed 57 topps set. This came up following having acquired autographed copies of a Johnny Bucyk RC and a Larry Hillman. I also mentioned if there were enough cards out there I may consider chasing them down as well.
About a week after having made the post, I received a message from a member stating he had one of the biggest cards from the set... An autographed 57 topps Howe! I really wasn't expecting to have a crack at the Howe so early on so I curiously asked what he may be looking to get in return for it. To my surprise he offered it to me as a gift, saying it belonged with me and he had gotten to enjoy it for many years and was looking to downsize his collection! I was speechless, I gave him my mailling address and stressed to him that he didn't have to do that and I would gladly offer him cash or trade but he insisted. I didn't have any further communication with him for about a month or so and I began to think he may have changed his mind or simply forgot about which was completely fine with me.
Then yesterday as I arrived at the mail box I saw a bubble mailer in it which surprised me since I hadn't made any purchases as of late. I got home and opened it up and to my surprise I found this along with a note wishing me luck on my sets!
and now looks great alongside my PSA 7 Howe!
So I would like to extend a huge thank you to member 87sluggo, whom which I only now know as Ed, for being so kind and demonstrating that there are not only good trustworthy people in this hobby, but there are still those who take pleasure in bringing joy to others as well. So thank you very much Ed and I'll be sure to forward this act of kindness next time I get a chance!
