Gerber placed on Waivers

I LOVE Elliot and how he plays. I think that the Islanders and Blue Jackets would be STUPID not to take the chance, especially the Islanders. You gotta feel for him...
 
Nice guy but can't stop a shot to save his life. He's too expensive for anyone to bother with him. He'll be in Europe next week...

Why? If they take him are they all of a sudden going to be playoff contenders? No point in taking him at this point, might as well ride it out and be guaranteed 1st or 2nd overall.
 
Gerber is an extremely nice guy. I had the opportunity of meeting him multiple times when he was in Carolina. Unfortunately, he is not worth the amount of his contract. He would be a very capable backup.

As an Isles fan, give me a break! We don't want him. We will be trading our salaries, not adding to them. Yann Danis is good enough for a couple of weeks and then him and MacDonald can take us right to Tavares!!!

So they win a few more games so they get in 13th place in the east?

So they can pay 2 overrated goalies loads of money to lose for them??

They are doing fine with their goalie now, and by that I mean they are riding out the year until greener pastures appear.

Gerber will be picked up by someone, not sure who, but the isles are dumb to get him. They have no need for him or his contract.
 
You people realize that the worst record only gets you a 25% CHANCE at the #1 overall pick, right? You don't "get Tavares" for finishing last. :rolleyes:

WRONG!!!!

It's about 48%. That would be true if all 14 teams that didn't qualify for the playoffs were able to obtain the 1st overall pick. A team can only move up 4 spots and move back 1 spot. So if the Isles finish last, they are guaranteed at least the 2nd overall pick with a 48% chance of getting the 1st overall pick.

I stand corrected. I had been reading various things that stated 25%... without the 4 up and 1 back. Just came across this explanation:

"At the conclusion of the regular season, the 14 NHL teams not qualifying for the playoffs are entered in a weighted lottery to determine the initial draft picks in each round, seeded according to regular season standing. The 30th-place team has a 25% chance of winning the lottery, with odds diminishing to a 0.5% chance for the 17th-place team. A single selection from the lottery pool is made, with the winning team eligible to improve its draft order by up to four places, and no team eligible to drop more than one place. Only the 26th- through 30th-place teams, then, are eligible to receive the first draft pick. Consequently, the 30th-place team's chance of retaining the first overall pick (as opposed to winning the lottery outright) improves to 48.2%."

You got it, I hate how they break down the lottery. They should really break it down by selection because it really does get confusing when you read the rules.

As you know I'm an Isles fan, I have nothing to be happy about this season. Don't take this away from me. lol :beer:
 
the Sens should bring Emery back... but i am quite happy with him being out of the NHL right now, no one is producing cards of him, and not many people still want his stuff, so i can catch up on the stuff that i missed out on, for a relatively decent price.:D
