Getzlaf sprains ankle.......

Carter was supposedly the bubble guy so I would assume he would be the guy to step in if Getzlaf can't go. I personally would be looking at Stamkos though. Kid is on fire right now and not many Team Canada players are.
 
Stamkos should be thrown in the mix. Having a stellar year and it'll be good to give him the experience for future world cup and Olympic tourneys.
 
Doan also got hurt last night, not sure how serious. I would vote for Stamkos, he adds a lot of speed and youthful enthusiasm:beer: Over the past 82 games he trails only Crosby and Ovy in goals (or so I have been told).

I think you have to go with Stamkos on this one. The guy is a sniper. If they are looking for heart and experience then I say Ryan Smyth. He is having a hell of a year and the guy bleeds Hockey!:beer:
 
Carter would be the likely candidate for his versatility to play either centre or wing. That said, Staal could be bumped up to take the spot too, opening it up for anyone else.

But judging by the process that the management team has used in picking the team, the ability to play multiple positions or fit into multiple roles will limit the chances that someone like Stamkos or Doan gets picked as a replacement. If it does happen, it would definitely open it up for someone like Carter to be chosen.
 
I'd say Stamkos,but Carter is no slouch either.Either way it's not like we're going to a fourth liner or anything.Canada will be fine but like hitchcook said too I wouldn't want to take anyone who's hurt this time around again.
Hope Getzlaf is alright though,looked alot more than a sprain.

Carter and Getzlaf have a similar style of play. They are both big guys, with great hands, good visions and are not affraid to use their shoulders. IMO, Getzlaf is better at controling the pace of a game than Carter. But over a ten days tournament, Carter would be a first class replacement over Getzlaf.

I am surprise that no one is talking about Vincent Lecavalier. Since he have been snubed by Team Canada, Vinny have been on fire. He have prime time international experience (won MVP at the last World Cup) and he won a Stanley Cup. Maybe health is an issue in his case, since he went into surgery this summer.

Stamkos offensive skills are as good as 95 % of the players that will play in the Olympics. As someone post, tough, he is not versatile enough to deserve a spot on Team Canada. He would probably be part of every other national team. But, at only 19, he will get a chance to shine at 2014, 2018 and maybe 2022 olympics.
