Global Shipping Program !!!!

Hopefully that seller agrees to opting out that stupid program from the auction, otherwise I need help from someone. It's really annoying that it has become more and more difficult for us collector who doesn't lives in a certain country.
It was ineed a lot easier before, for like 10 years ago was a no oversas shipper at ebayer almost non-existent but it's growing uncontrolable in nowadays....

Ebay's so called global shipping program is a huge fraud and scam, that's unbelievalbe that they'te still practicing that program yet without any reprimands after all....

Of course the seller of that auction I was talked about was totally unaware of how expensive it's for us to use that program....$25-$55 for a cheap card...crazy!

Most likely the seller did not chose this. The box is already checked! Just ask them to revise the listing, uncheck the box and its fixed!

Strange...the seller was nice enough to opting out that program, the seller was shocked by the crazy rate (he was of course not aware of that)...
But the problem is that I stil sees that darn rates from the global shipping program...I PM:ed him again and sees what happens then.

Ebay is really trying by their hardest to killing us hobbyists (and others!) who doesn't lives in NA....too many cards I needs or wants have that program or that the seller refuses to ship outsde USA, canada or NA.....

So I bought an item from an American Seller and when I got the invoice I got Bent Over for almost $10 Import charges because of this "Global Shipping Program" like Wtf man (Didn't Realize what this was for till after I bought the auction) So it was My fault for not paying more attention to what I was buying..who gets this Money and why am I paying for this..Seller tells me that eBay won't let him change the shipping or invoice me because of this program...9 Years on Ebay I have Never Paid Duty on any Items I bought.

Here is a response I got from a fellow collector who Answered the best he could

"The seller is shipping to a GSP "distribution centre" within USA, so he's shipping USA to USA, easy peasy for him. No extra paperwork, no laibility. Your $10, in theory, is the "brokerage fee" that would be collected by CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) should your package meet criteria to be selected (usually a $ value threshold, varies time to time in my experience). It's also the PST and GST (or HST) that CBSA would collect and remit to CRA on said value of package. Only... I find that items under $50 tend to come through "free and clear" when shipped the old fashioned way, hence why I think eBay is "pocketing" most of that fee. I am not sure if the seller pays anything to send from their house to the GSP distribution centre or how that works, but regardless, the buyer is the one getting hammered in all of this"

"And of course, GSP is paying "something" to ship from their distribution centre to the country where the buyer lives, but you can bet your a** that the shipping cost from GSP to you, brokerage fee to CBSA (if paid at all?) and taxes to CBSA (if paid at all?), and possibly shipping from seller to GSP, total to far less than that "fee" you are paying"

Whats everyones 2 bits on these shananagans...Seems like us Canadians are getting the ****ty end of the deal here..I will No Longer Buy from anyone who uses this Program unfortunately :(

ebay shipping

Agreed. I bought a card a couple of weeks ago and paid $3 shipping from the US. Lo and behold, it arrived with tracking, and the number showed delivered in the My eBay page. I was astounded.

Rob

Ebay does offer Delcon with 1st class postage to Canada. They give a small discount so the total postage is $6 and change for an under 2 ounce package. The seller probably just ate the difference in shipping cost. I usually charge around $4 for shipping to Canada and just eat the rest. I also don't usually ship anything international under $15.

For some reason, paypal doesn't offer 1st class shipping to Canada with its labels.....

Do you want to know what the worst part of this global shipping program is? Everytime I list an auction the box is checked. Every 4-5 auctions I list I forget to uncheck the box. I swear it's a booby trap!!

Go to "Site preferences" under Account tab.
Go to "Shipping preferences" under Selling preferences. The first item is: Offer the Global Shipping Program. Click on edit and click NO.

Ebay Custom fee thing

I just won an item and while paying for it, I got the shipping charge of $10 PLUS another almost $7 for a Global tracking fee thing. Can't say I like this too much. Extra $$$ for what exactly when the shipping service I am paying for already comes with tracking! Sign of the times I suppose :duh:

Can someone explain to me how this works? I don't ship to Canada anymore because I can't print the label and just drop it in the mail I gotta go to the P.O which I can only do like 1 time if that a week. I also don't like charging $8 for shipping with no tracking.

Would this be a cheaper and better option? How exactly does it work?

You can just print the label and drop it in the mail if you print the correct label for it. As for the " I also don't like charging $8 for shipping with no tracking" bit. If you print the postage through eBay the code on there includes tracking. The Global Shipping program is awful and gouges buyers big time.

I've tried on paypal before and I only get two options one for priority mail and one for express which is $20 and $40

I had the same problems on several ocassions, usually using the USPS site works great. I try to print all my labels off of either ebay or USPS sites now saves money and time.

The global shipping program charges buyers between $15-20 to have something delivered, whether the card is 99cents or $99.

I'll tell this again but-
I really DESPISES that darn program!

I think that I was forced to taking helps from various members with +15 auction only during the 2 lastest months....that's insane!!

But the problem is that only a very few portion of those sellers who practices with those programs is even aware of how they're really working and how expensive they are actually...some was ineed shocked when I told then how much they costs for me then.....ebay is for sure too greedy now!

+$25 in shipping for a $0.99 card is outta this world!
If the cards hits over $25 so the import charges will increases like crazty for every dollars then, so a $75 card can be costing you so much as +$50 in shipping/import charges then, that's so sick!

This is really killing uis who lives outside NA but sadly even for many north americans too!
I'll see how longer I'll survive with those insane shipping hikes and that program....kinda of difficult to imagine to only 2-3 years ago mostly of all shipments only costs $3-$4.50 for a card but now mostly hits at $8-$9.50....while we swedes can ships 3-5 thicker cards to you in NA only for $5 or so long they weights under 100grams then!!!

I sell some high end shoes on eBay and I've had a few buyers scoff at me for not using the global shipping program. A lot of these guys prefer to pay the fees upfront and not have to worry about customs, duty, taxes etc and want their items delivered without any hassle.

It's extremely rare that you gets customs, duty, taxes or whatever from some cards even if the value exceeds $500...like 1:400 in odds to getting customs for packages with 1-20 cards according my own experiences since I started with ebay since autumn-2000.
The package must have be really big to getting customs then (in sweden then), but has happened many times that I didn't even gets customs/taxes etc for huge package from NA.

So there're no use to using those programs according me....it's a completely fraud and like wasting hard-earing $ in the water....IMO!

Do they really guarantee that you 120% don't gets customs(taxes/MOMS/etc if shipped thorough with that program, I'm not that sure sorry because many countries/employees/offices may not be fully aware of that program och all countries have its own postal rules so that makes the program unvalid then. I'll NEVER take a risk to using that program EVER! Not worth it!
