This guy is a joke.

I was going to place a bid just to stir things up again, but Steve's "winning" it, so I'll back off for now :)

I will strike though

I do believe that at any time, you can have someone bid up to a certain point and end the auction at that amount. I have seen other auctions - end days ahead of schedule with a statement close to this:

The auction has ended and the item has sold to the highest bidder at $XXX

That would be what it seems that he is doing - since he claims the end of auction notice would come from Ebay.

I've seen that done before as well.....

Lionel,

Report him to eBay... not sure if anyone reported him before for his bonehead antics, but I agree with Steve... sounds like he's avoiding fees or something. If not why wouldn't he just let it go with a reserve? Since he wants all your contact info, he might be fishing for clients... people who would buy high-end stuff that he can sell directly to you, which I also believe is in violation of eBay rules. Ugh... my tolerance for idiocy is at an all time low.

That is an interesting story. I can honestly say I have never dealt with such a member. Sounds like something is not right, and that he is trying to say all the right things.

I clicked on the link and it now says "bidding on this item has ended".

What happened?
