Group case breaks

Different people do it different ways, but the most basic is a group of collectors put in an even amount of money up front for a box or case, then you are randomly assigned teams. Everything that comes out of the break featuring your team(s) is yours.

The ones done by video are probably the most trustworthy, or being involved in one live. You can walk away with team(s) that aren't going to produce as much as other teams though.

I think Bruce did the right thing by keeping them out of here, as it is too easy to have one go south. And I'd only trust it if it was the site owner running it.

We are debating allowing group breaks again, but as Cory said above, it would be done by the site ONLY. Will have further details in the coming weeks.

Aww man, I hope you guys can make it happen. I have always wanted to buy slots on other sites, but was never really too confident about it. Doing them on here would be a different story though.

I would be interested in this as well. I think it would be a great way to boast some traders.

I would like to see it hosted by mod's or have specific members designated as those that can run them. They would have to be verified and have a high level of completed deals already.

Just my thoughts.

I see no harm in letting the people who own stores advertise them. Great way to get lots of people into the store busting wax on a trade night.

If done correctly, it seems to attract a lot of attention. We see a few member from HI who appear to get in on them quite regularly. Seems odd to make members go to OTHER sites to do this. One simple (but important) rule I learned from the retail business....don't give your customers a reason to shop elsewhwere....they may see things out there they like and not come back to you as much. I'm guessing bad group breaks are as common as trades gone bad, and there still is trading allowed :) Besides, the beauty of watching a case break is that you almost always get to see the "case hits", unlike almost all box breaks.

I hope the decision is to allow them. It is a great way to get new cards to trade without having to buy a ton of wax (as long as you get a bit lucky hahaha)

There are numerous trustworthy members on the boards here who could run them.

i think just for logistics they could even be done by area - so have a designated Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, etc.. case break and that way it might even be able to be done in person, or atleast you can get your cards quicker as well

just an option as I know not everyone lives in a major city

No, not everyone lives in a major city but we all have the ability to reach out to folks in the out-skirts...

I too have been involved in a few case breaks and have thoroughly enjoyed them. The ones I have been involved in were live streamed and very professionally done.

we fully do have the ability to do that....but if we could organize a case break online here and have everyone attend in person (at a local LCS such as yours:beer:) i think that would also be a fun idea - especially in vancouver area as we have no real "hobby" shop or trade nights like other areas (that i know of)

I'd be very interested as well but only if we have the right people and rules in place. I hope we are able to have one in the near future!

If you have a good shop near by - you should get them to promote one in house. But, like you mention - the internet opens the availability for everyone.

Bruce is right to have some caution as the site runs the risk of having the stores complaining about the other stores getting the customers from their area and/or participants who may not like hitting Flordai or St. Louis week after week.....

Everyone would have to have their eyes wide open.

Store wise - if this was to fly - it should be equally distributed to the stores on here who want to participate.... But people may favour dealing with a particular store over another - so maybe there should be a period of time where it can be in probation mode and the stores can have a set number of breaks... I also think it should not cross borders so packages don't get any border/duty/gst surprises.... just thinking out loud.

all great ideas....again if Bruce lets this go down I think as HI members we should not see many issues with this going as...as long as everyone plays by the rules that Bruce lays out

also a big fan of the not cross borders idea as mail delivery cross border seems to never be consistent with the amount of time it takes...plus it saves shipping as well when sending with insurance, etc..
