It's that time again. Time again to hand out "packs" of cards and putting smiles on the faces of little Trick or Treat'ers.

I usually package 25 base cards and inserts, along with a local Kitchener Rangers card, into Team Bags to hand out for Halloween. The kids seem to like them over the usual chocolates and candy they receive from pretty much every other house.

Also, hockey cards are a great alternative to candy if you want to take part in the Teal Pumpkin Project

Every year more and more HI'ers join this tradition. You still have 3 weeks to prepare your own packs to hand out!

This will be my fourth year doing it, many kids last year came up and knew we were the hockey card house. Huge hit every year!

I've been doing this for 10 years now. But I'm afraid that dozens of kids will be disappointed this year as I just moved last month from my old house into a new neighborhood. But don't worry I'll be introducing hockey cards for Halloween in my new neighborhood this year! Hoping for more kids than in the old hood which should be the case as there are lots of schools nearby.

I think if I did this, in the US, I'd get kids peeved that they aren't Redskins, Nationals, or Wizards cards :laugh:

I used to do this years ago but since we moved around 07 we hardly have any kids that trick or treat anymore

I put together 60 packs last night to give out to the kiddies.

Less than 2 weeks to go folks! Still plenty of time for you to join in the fun and spread the hobby love. It is a great way to clear out cards you no longer have interest in.

Stumbled across this post today. This is such a great idea. I am in a rural area and in ten years have not had one trick or treater. Similarly, myself and another fella compiled a couple of thousand base cards and inserts last year and did teams up for our kid's hockey team. We waited until the last weekend and final away tournament to give them out. We also had some pretty decent cards that we gave out as random draws. I had more than one good chuckle at the kids sitting in the hotel hallway trading and comparing their newly acquired cards. We are making plans for them for this year too.

Another year, and another batch of kiddies excited to receive hockey cards for Trick or Treating. I was giving out cards and candy, and the kids were oblivious to the candy. They were focused on the cards.

If you haven't done this yet, I highly recommend it for next year. It's so cool to hear the kids race away from my door exclaiming "I GOT HOCKEY CARDS!!"

I was giving cards too this year. They are more excited with the cards than the candies!

It's a nice way to move these commons. They enjoy them much more than me. Nice to see them having fun

I gave away chocolate bars and packs of 16-17 MVP... the kids were super excited!
