I know it's an answer that can't officially be answered, but I'm just looking around for opinions.

His cards has been selling for crazy money in the last few months, sometimes for more money than Taylor Hall, who is considered the most expensive rookie of the 10-11 crop.

Recent example :

Hall Zenith Donruss Elite RC Auto : http://cgi.ebay.com/10-11-ZENITH-DT...rading_Cards&hash=item2a12b8cd88#ht_500wt_898

Subban Zenith Donruss Elite RC Auto : http://cgi.ebay.com/P-K-Subban-10-1...aultDomain_0&hash=item20bb756330#ht_500wt_898

Granted, Hall still sells more than Subby (for the Ultimate RC Autos, Subban sells in average for 220-250$, and Hall is more around 250-300$).

But still, do you think Subban's value will keep going up, or has he reached is maximum value?

I can't see his stuff getting any hotter however if he has a HUGE start to the season, who knows? It is Montreal after all... LOL

look at Price. He was selling like crazy then came down. Subban will come down too. Unless he goes Bobby Orr on the league. then all bets are off.

There are a handful of deep-pocketed dudes in Montreal that get into some crazy bidding wars on P.K.'s low-numbered items. The final prices you see on some items just blows me away, whether it's the examples above or a $250 dual SOTT Price/Subban.

I think it may come down a smidge this coming year, but he's not going to totally drop off the hobby map like Tavares did in 10-11. Price and Subban are the two most popular guys in Montreal, and that translates into some big hobby dollars.

^^^ Agree ...

Also the example links the OP used shows the Subban card serial # matches his jersey #

I must say I didn't even notice the jersey numbered card on my example, but trust me, hos other Donruss Elite autos have been selling for 150$ and more since release date... I bought mine 145$ and it's the cheapest I saw so far...

However, nothing beats the stupidity of this one : http://cgi.ebay.com/2011-Panini-Don...=US_Baseball&hash=item2c5e7af276#ht_541wt_649

The PK Subban Dare to Tare linked in the first post, its card 76/99 AKA JERSEY NUMBER!!

Just saying that probably affected the value of that card

Well, it'd be nice to move my SPA Limited Patch auto /100, but pretty much every time I say my asking price, the response is "WHAT!!!!! Ohhhhhh...... it's the Patch AUto, not the FW, my bad". Sigh......

i think his value should go down abit next season but will go up in a few years

oh and in your ebay listings, the subban dondruss auto sold for that much because it was his jersey numbered.. 76/99

Down from here. Subban's basically got Dion Phaneuf rookie card syndrome here...a hot rookie defenseman that plays for a Canadian team, though granted, it's Montreal. There's no way Subban's values hold like this for the next year unless he breaks out and scores 20 goals in the first 20 games of the season.

It isn't the first time we've seen this though out of collectors and rookie D-men. You might say, Subban's currently playing...sloppy seconds *rimshot*

Thank you I'll be here all week.

It's his rookie year ... prices are high

He's in Montreal ... prices are high

He's a d-man ... could see a decline

If he doesn't produce year after year, he isn't going go any higher and will probably drop.

Price was dubbed the Roy in his rookie and Subban is no where near Bobby Orr so eventually Subban will drop.

He's a good d-man, solid, but I don't see him being an All Star D-man. Nor do I see him being a career-Hab either.

Only a few rookies (in terms of card collecting) increase in value over the years.

A lot of the hobby is wrapped around collecting each year's top prospects (although I do know not everyone does but a lot do, and I mean... a huge amount) so its pretty inevitable that his stuff drops even though he does decent next year cause collectors move on to the "next big thing."

another driving point to his sales is the fact that ALOT of his rc's with auto's are redemptions still in process, making anything with his scribble a bit more desirable.

Dion Phaneuf syndrome is the perfect analogy. Might not drop as hard but won't keep those prices.

The demand will be high for his cardboard because he plays in Montreal. Probably wise to sell his stuff into demand, but then again, I would have said the same thing about Stamkos when his RC's first came out and that would have been a HUGE error.
