has there ever been a jump in price this quick before?

i remember when Jason King busted out of no where with the canucks, i paid 100 bucks for his regular spa future watch rc, now its hard to sell them for 99 cents.

Palo Alto barely knows what basketball is? Please.

You know how to read?

I wasn't even referring to basketball at all.

My post clearly stated that if you want a player to reach the same status in hockey and in the US market, you need those hypothetical criteria and you to put him in a big US hockey market.

I think Reimer "could have" caused a similar market reaction if he wasn't concussed.

Cup RC prices before the last 10-15 games of last season ~$30 to 60
After the season and during the summer ~$150-200
After his 4-0-1 start ~$200 to over $300

Imagine *if* he didn't get concussed and started the season 10-0-1 with 4 SOs....

The only other possibility that something like this would happen in hockey, is if a player like Blake Wheeler gets traded to Montreal/NYR and goes on a 20 game goal scoring streak or if Turris went on a 20 game goal scoring streak when he joined the Sens

ya....none of those situations (including Reimer) is going to happen in hockey!!

The only guy I can think of who MIGHT have a shot at pulling something similar is Bryce Harper once ESPN and everyone else hype the kid to the moon and back when he gets called up.

Harper's cards won't have much more room to move - unless he becomes a once in a generation player like Albert Pujols, both on and off the field. And last I saw, he still has a lot more growing up to do before he does.

For the most part - baseball prospects don't have much room to grow since the prospecting junkies run it up from the time the player is drafted until about AA. By that time, their cards have pretty much peaked unless they hit 50 HRs their first year or reach some other significant milestone

I feel so bad for the guy who sold his Lin NT Rookie auto/jersey on January 31st for $25. 2 weeks later, it's selling for $2500+. The guy must be sick to his stomach
