I'm surprised there wasn't some jerk out there holding onto just one. Some set builders probably aren't too happy either. Think that just comes down to money? If I made $3 mil a year, I might try that too.

Eh...at no point does it say in the article that just because he has 500 of them, he wouldn't give one up to a set collector. Curt (Gabbyguy) was looking to get 101 of the 303 Gaborik dual Crown Royale Patches from 02-03, but at numerous points in his quest to get to 101 he willingly parted with one to a set builder, which put off his goal, but still enabled people here and on Beckett to do the set.

Seriously, a few of you who posted spends close to the high five or six figure range on cards and your calling one collector crazy because he has a preference to a particular player or type of card.

I think his collection is cool IMO.

Besides, it just goes to show how little value there is to a mass produced jersey card; he says he had about 100 of them donated for FREE. Here's a guy collecting for the fun of it, just in a different way. Good for him.

But it is still crazy.

Agreed. Collecting is all about finding whatever makes you happy and if he wants to own every copy of that card, good on him.

That's what I'm trying to do with the Lafeur in my Bucket but at least I know the max I can get is 24.

That is something else. That type of hoarding is on a whole other level from what we've seen here in the past. I think it is cool; and it seems as though he's happy and that's all that really matters in the end.
