Have you ever sold a card to the player on the card?

I have never sold a card to a player, but I did give Cal Clutterbuck his Cup Auto RC Patch Gold card #22/22 (had a very plain patch) a few years back when I did an interview with him for the Insider's Edge magazine (Hobby Insider's own magazine for awhile). :)

A month or so later, I had Cal take a picture with that Insider's Edge magazine that had the interview in it.

So a player has his jersey numbered Cup RC in his collection at home from me. Kind of cool. Great guy!

Back in 09/10 we had MacGregor Sharp's Mom emailing us looking for his rookie cards. Great woman!
I remember him...he played for University of Minnesota-Duluth at same time my son Grant was attending there. I used to go visit and catch a few UMD games. Always liked ole #18. I think he's in Italy now after a cup of coffee with the Ducks.

Not quite the same but I have the same name as Jeremy Morin from the Blackhawks

Whenever I buy one of his cards online, I get "are you the Jeremy Morin on the card?" Lol

Anyone want to pm me with how to get in touch with hartnell? I have a couple of his cards, and being a Pens fan, they're as good as firestarters to me haha.

I just sold a Marchand card to someone last night with the last name Marchand in Nova Scotia. I never bothered asking....

Ask Shawn (djsports). He tried to talk to Hartnell to buy my collection of him, but never heard back from him. Later on Hartnell bid on many of the cards I was selling on eBay.

Oddly enough, I just finished packing up an Ebay sale of Mark Popovic hockey cards. The shipping address specifies that it's going to one Jason Popovic of Toronto. Coincidence? Maybe, or maybe not.

I once sold a card to Georges Laraque! It was a 02-03 BAP Memorabilia card. I shipped to Edmonton but I think it was a post office box!

Great thread.

I'm not a big seller.

My best story is My Brother in law had his wedding suit jacket and kilt made by the lady who does Don Cherry's jackets.

Just stumbled across this thread. Great stories! I actually just sold a 13-14 Sp Game used true rookie card/77 of Anton Belov, to an Anton Belov in Russia! Might be a common name but thought it was pretty neat!

iam almost positive i sold a card to Joe cannatta himself...

I share the same name as the lines man Chris Lee :)

I've showed my kids the announcement on TV but they don't get it.

Cool stories on here and a great topic.

we are of no relation btw

I have sold a Ryan Getzlaf jersey card to someone who had the last name of Getzlaf. They lived in Western Canada. I had asked them if they were related and they told me that Ryan was his cousin and Ryan tried to collect cards of himself and gets him to just buy them.

We made a deal and I sent another jersey card to him and he sent me a Calgary Hitmen auto postcard/picture and Ryan personalized it himself. It took me a while to get my end and just assumed that I had been taken. I still have it in my PC and it will never leave. Not worth much money at all but a cool story for me.

I have sold a pile of Ryan Getzlaf stuff to a Danny Getzlaf in SK. Probably the same person you are referring to. I've always assumed that he was related, but never asked. Close as I have gotten.

I know this is an old post but had a purchase today that caused me to pause briefly...

Steve Spott picked up a $1 today - I figured that it may just be a happy coincidence with the name. Then I noticed his email is @torontomapleleafs.com - had a chuckle and packaged up the card.

I hope you sent it express... he's probably going down with the rest of the ship, which is too bad since it's not the coaches that are the problem...
