Have you ever sold a card to the player on the card?

I sold a SP Game Used Scott Hartnell autograph once to a Scott Hartnell from Philly. I'm assuming it was him or else it was just a coincidence.

I also sold a John LeClair lot 4-5 years ago to a John LeClair. I don't remember the city the item was sent to though. I'm not sure if it was him or not.

Never sold a card directly to the player but, I have given Cody Franson's Dad a few extra's of his son I have, we are also working on a trade that will hopefully include a game used stick or jersey and a round of Golf with Cody for a few extra high ends I have.

Not hockey but I sold a Philip Hughes Topps Chrome refractor RC. Later I found out he buys all of his cards through several names, lol.

I sold a Brett Lebda Wings rookie card to a women named Lebda. Did ask if it was a wife, sister or mom but guessed it was family.

Sold - no, but I have given TJ Brodie's dad a bunch of his cards (I play baseball with his dad).

I have also given Todd Warriner cards to so can autograph them for kids (he lives down the street).

Lesser know Chris Allen is in the store from time to time and I get him cards (he does not have many). I play hockey with his dad.

We are looking for cards of Rick Chinick (I play hockey and ball with him).

We have given Ken Houston some of his cards for autographs.

EDIT - Bonnie updated our list.

Eric & Kyle Wellwood's family
Derrick Roy's family
Fergie Jenkin's family

Not to the player direct, but sold to Brad Marchand's uncle on the east coast a while back. Did not know until the PayPal came in, and I asked if he was related.

Cant remember the name but the guy used to be a high profile player on the Sharks, is dad bought a few low end jersey from me.I dont know if he`s collecting him or getting them auto`ed and giving them to children in is hometown.Taught it was kinda cool.

Sold a few ITg cards to a Jeffrey Molson recently, but when i checked out is shack on google i realize it couldnt be the Habs owner.

This is cool, never had a story like that but I once sold a card to Travis Moen's relative and once to Barrett Jackman's uncle. That was pretty neat!

I sold a Ben Roethlisberger card to someone named Roethlisberger. Asked if they were related but no reply. They did pay well for it ...

I haven't sold any to a player that I know of.
However, I have given over 700 common cards of T.J. Oshie to his dad "Coach Osh" so that he can give them out to kids when he attends Blues games in STL and at Hockey camps he attends.

I had Lundqvist sign 2 Parkhurst rookies and he asked if i had anything else so i gave him an Sp game used jersey card, he thought it was neat so i let him keep it lol

Sold Craig Anderson cards to his dad. I appogized to how his son was treated in Denver. He said him and Craig liked it here and his son liked some of the franchise records he set with the Avs. I didn't tell him about the pc collection I have of his son, that would just be creepy.

Also sold some of my Crawford collection to his dad as well, but only have sold minor league cards of baseball players to the actual person themselves.

Max > Your Joey Tenute card reminds me of the 05-06 Beckett Rookie Rolodex, which always makes me a bit sad. I remember all they put under Joey Tenute was "Not a Legitimate NHL product" and I was like awww :(

Sadly he only played that one game in the NHL...so I guess Beckett was right in a way...but sad all the same.

Wow it's just so hardcore to collecting themselves...like it!
I didn't knew that it was such many NHL-players (or relatives to the player) were buying cards of themselves....

I've sold some Price extras to the guy that designs his masks.

That's about as close as I've gotten so far though.

I have sold a Ryan Getzlaf jersey card to someone who had the last name of Getzlaf. They lived in Western Canada. I had asked them if they were related and they told me that Ryan was his cousin and Ryan tried to collect cards of himself and gets him to just buy them.

We made a deal and I sent another jersey card to him and he sent me a Calgary Hitmen auto postcard/picture and Ryan personalized it himself. It took me a while to get my end and just assumed that I had been taken. I still have it in my PC and it will never leave. Not worth much money at all but a cool story for me.

I sold a card to Jonathan Cheechoo's father - sounds like the family is/was big collectors of his. I sent a chunk of extras for him and got a nice note back from his dad.

Matt Frattin's Dad, and Joffrey Lupul's Agent come by our local LCS from time to time and pick up there son's and client's stuff. I've only sold Frattin's dad stuff. Still kind of neat
