Helm PC, should I sell it?

Alright, simple Poll here, Ill try to make the story short and sweet as well
A buyer on another forum, has offered to buy out my collection, we are currently negotiating, nothin Is set yet.
The catch is, he has already bought out the other big collector in Canada, who has almost all the 1/1s and plates I do not, if he buys me out as well, he will have the best Helm PC in the world, uncontested
Now, I am a Senior in high school, I have college to think about, and a life after school to do the same, The figure right now, is around 1500, but as I said, nothing is certain at this point
Another point to give thought, is with him having the other half, if I don't sell it to him, I will know that I will NEVER have every card of him, unless he decides to sell his cards off, which would turn into a big waiting game.
Just looking for opinions, Im very proud of my PC, and I want the opinions of you guys before I go and sell it off quickly
Any ideas/opinions appreciated

Due to your age. I have to say sell all the way. I think once you get in college your interest and money will go else were. Sell while the selling is good.
 
if you need the money then sell but down the road you never know what will happen

whatever you do as long as you happy that what counts!
 
I say move them... Keep one that you really enjoy even if he decides to sell off his collection he may due that when you are in the middle of college and believe me money then is tight... hey at least you can say you helped build the greatest Helm Pc..
 
Sell it. Then reassess your priorities and needs at the stage you are at in life. I'm a "recent" college grad, and I just landed my first "real" job about a year ago. That being said, I've done some reassessing, and within a few weeks or so, my "player" PC's will be up on the market save for a few. Will still be focusing on a few players and my Sharks, but I need to start thinking about my own house and a new car. The end. Sell it.
 
Like Ted Dibiase says "Everyone has a price". Sell sell sell. If you're using the money for schooling then you're a better person that I. I'd use it for some more cards maybe a case of something and waste the rest.
 
I don't think this is a question we can answer for you, honestly. You've got to decide which will make you happiest (assuming, of course, there is no sort of pressing debt that you need the money for right now - real life crises always win).

Are there other players you would be equally happy collecting? What would you do with the money if you got it? Is that worth the time and investment you put into assembling it? Only you can answer things like that.

Good luck with whatever your decision is. Make it, and then don't second guess it.

100% agree with this statement. I got rid of a good 80% of my collection last year, kept only what I really liked. Probably will do similar this year.

It's inevitable you'll have seller's remorse at some point, but if you keep a piece of the collection - say an RC, an auto and a 1/1 - you wont have as much of a sting.
 
I'd have to agree with the majority of this thread, you may need the money later, and the buyer may not be there later. I sold off a good chunk of my Sakic collection, and while it sucked at the time, saving some of the cards that were most important to me (a Hard signed auto, RCs, some pack pulled, etc) really helped take the hurt out of it. If for whatever reason you're not sure about selling it, then don't. Only do it when you're absolutely sure.
 
If you need the money to help with college I say sell, once you are done school and into the workforce you will have an income and you can decide what you want to do with it then.

I know personally I didn't collect while I was in college (just flat out broke) and it wasn't until I started working that I realized I had some disposable income to start getting back into it. I started small and worked my way up, now I'm very happy with my PC and it is better than anything I would have amassed in high school.

You may miss the cards and the hobby for a while, but it will pull you back in later in life :D

sell it.

1. if you're thinking about it, you could probably do without it.
2. it's good money ... especially as you're entering college.
3. you probably won't be able to keep up with it while you're in college.
4. you're going to have LOTS of other things to take up your time in college.
5. you can start a new PC when you graduate and start your career.

i was in the same situation as you. i didn't sell off my cards but i stopped collecting completely sometime in 98-99. started back up again in 05-06 and here i am, back and in the thick of it.
 
I voted sell. Use that money for school, or start a fresh new PC. Sounds like the dude is serious. And in the end, I think we would all love to see what this guys Helm collection looks like when it is all together.
 
UPDATE

Well I got my response, it is officially sold, on another forum, He will pay in increments through Paypal, and he has a send first status, so until I get all the money, (Odds are in December) I get to hold onto them until then

Congrat's..Save up and start a Tatar collection in a year or 2 when he plays...More upside with him than Helm also.
