I recently got into Hockey and hobby. I have to read a book:rolleyes: but if i read a book my mom will buy me up to 60 bucks of cards:eek: (shes the best!) anyways, being new to hockey need some advice on what box(s) to get.

Depends on what you're aiming at...prospects, particular inserts...with 60 bucks, you could get a mid-end product...there are a few , but what should guide your choice is what are your priorities ;)

Don't know if i'm very clear, but i hope i am =)

as far as the prices are concerned, don't know tough, as i'm in Europe, i've got to buy the boxes via Ebay...

An american guy who's more of a "hobby veteran" than me will be able to answer you better than i did, but i just wanted to add my "noob" piece of info !

i don't know what your looking to do, get some packs of mid-high level stuff ( BAP Sig, SPX, SPA) or a box of a decent set (UD series 2 05/06, UD Ice, Rookie Update, Ultra). If I were you, i would get the best bang for your buck and get a box of something midlevel. You'll be assured of at least getting something as oppose to buying packs where it's hit and miss. Welcome to the hobby of hockey, remember it's only cardboard :)

I think i like Fleer Showcase 06-07 and 05-06 UD. Are those good boxes? I mean i was just thing: 6 GUd for 70 bucks, a chance at a Sid the Kid RC. idk.

no, stay away from showcase. all down arrows on the rc's and the ud with crosby is gonna cost at least 225 becuase it's series 1. series 2 has ovechkin and others. but if you get showcase you deserve what you get, crappy set, nothing worth getting.

I totally agree with King Heinrik. Your best bank for the buck is SP Authentic, SPX, and Be A Player Signatures in that price range. Great design, and You'll have better chances of pulling a good auto or relic card of a worthwhile star.

no dude, ud series 2 05/06 or rookie update is your best bet. then ud ice 05/06. if you get mvp, your a putz

No, listen to Henrik. He knows what he's talking about.

UD Series 2 is by far the best in that price range. Why? Simple. Extremely valuable Rookie Inserts called young guns. Traders here have climed over themselves for these rare beauties.

UD Rookie Update is another outstanding product, inserts of 1999 of top rookies and an average 1 in a box of a signed auto with Jersey rookie.

Although 05-06 UD Ice won a Beckett's award for best card design, it has a teriffic base set of 100 cards, they have too many acetate insert cards of players numbered to 2999 or 1999, and their swatches are mostly from mid - to low end players with only a few exceptions, which still makes no sense from a value-to-you standpoint. Go with this product only if you can't find the other two products above.

1 pack of 06/06 SP GU edition
1 box of 05/06 ICE

I'd say that's a pretty good choice.. I love the design of 05-06 Ice. If you don't pull anything spectacular you'll still have some nice looking cards!
