Help with a "The Cup" Card

Hello all:

What is this card going to be?
Autoed plate?
Just a plate?
what does the redeemed part mean?

I am really lost.

My guess is that it will be an auto plate and the "redeemed" part could be the fact that in the original set his card was a redemption and the plate is for that card

It's a plate issued by the Franklin Mint, with each plate commemerating a turnover by Stamkos in the defensive zone. With 572 plates, it's a large set.

More seriously, a press plate of the Stamkos card, which itself was a redemption (hence "redeemed", I'd assume). The fact it doesn't say it's auto'd makes me wonder why it would have been a redemption. Someone's got to know....

Those Black Lettermen were /99 and auto'd and were all redemptions so maybe, for some reason, they didn't have the plates back in time to make the Rookie Masterpiece. My guess is that it is not auto'd but who knows.

Should be the press plate - but not the auto'ed version.

I had the redemption for the Franzen a few years back and it said autograph on it.

Why wouldn't it be auto'ed? Every plate made of a card that was originally autographed from a set, has an autograph. I doubt there would be redemptions for non-auto'ed plates. They are simply telling you what set the plate is from, with that being 'UD Black Rookie Lettermen Redeemed'. Stamkos was not a pack pull like Mason, and thus had to be redeemed.

Upper Deck should have clarified on the redemptions that they were autographed.

I'm betting it will be an auto'd plate, however it will have a large blank spot where the Letter Patch would normally have been. In other words, the only design on it would be whatever was on the border of the original Letterman Patch card.

The fact that it says "Redeemed" would mean that it s a plate of the redeemed card (with a pic of Stamkos), not a plate of the redemption card (generic player).

That's weird... it better be auto'ed, or you're just going to have an almost blank press plate.

Maybe they made them unauto'ed, saw how silly they looked, and pulled them to get them auto'ed?

If it doesn't say auto on the redemption I doubt yours is an auto

Ersberg and Ebbett didn't have autographed lettermen, so naturally their plates are not autographed. Why would some non-auto'ed plates be redemptions, when the majority of the rest are in packs?

Ersberg and Ebbett were not redemptions though. They were included in the initial run of Black. Stamkos was a rookie redemption and didn't ship out until around February/March of 09 whereas the initial run of rookies like Mason, Ersberg, Okposo were released in October of 08.

Like a previous poster mentioned - I would think that if it was an auto'ed plate - the redemption card itself would have said that. I could be wrong (I think I was once before ).

it will be auto if it follows from past 2 years of the Cup

if the set is an auto'ed set, then its plates will be auto as well

for example

SPA
Ultimate
Black (auto letters /399 and 99)

etc
