Well, I hate to post a story like this on Christmas, but I finally had my first PWE nightmare in 8 years of eBaying yesterday. I've had cards shipped in PWEs aplenty, but this is the first time a card got damaged.

I bought an 05-06 Cup Limited Logos card with a great BIN price (granted, it WAS David Aebischer, but the shoulder footprint patch was cool) and was charged FIVE DOLLARS for shipping...fine, I thought...it's still $15 shipped, which is pretty good for a limited card from that set.

Well, the card arrived in a white envelope, and through it was a giant crease...the card was essentially bent in half but the toploader was unaffected, and why? The card was in a toploader without a soft sleeve and in a plastic bag. But the top of the bag was cut, which essentially meant the card fell out of the toploader and got bent by the mail sorter.

So I paid $5 for possibly the worst eBay shipping I've ever received. I've received cards in PWEs before, but they were always protected well enough not to be damaged.

I've notified the seller and thought I'd notify you guys too to beware. Unfortunately, I don't have a scan right now because I'm at my mom's place for Christmas and not at home.

That's a drag, Matt. No matter who the player is, that is an awesome set.

You even managed to find one without the bubbly auto. Bummer it got wrecked.

wow that it horrible, he has a few nice cards that are all going to end up the same way. How can someone who has any dealings with cards be that silly when shipping cards. Some people are completely brain dead.

That's what you get for buying a card of David Aebischer :p

But in all seriousness, that blows goats. Hopefully you can have it resolved to your liking. Does he know who your employer is? ;)

Thats a kick to the junk. Amazing how many Ebay sellers still ship in plain envelopes. Sorry to hear about your bad luck......

Well that sucks. I had an eBay seller a few months ago ship me an 06-07 Upper Deck MVP 1on1 jersey Spezza/Sundin in a PWE. Card obviously arrived with multiple creases, and the seller excused himself for "Canada Post's abuse". He basically blamed them for his card (and a very thick one mind you) arrive damaged with only a folded U-Haul pamphlet as padding along with the top loader and penny sleeve. Needless to say I'm never buying from that guy again (306kellins I believe his eBay ID is).

Beware of the low BINs with high shipping costs...

Matt that really sucks. I remember you telling me how much you were looking forward to getting that sweet patch card in your grubby hands. Hope the seller replies to your e-mails.

I was about to say "I think you got me mixed up with someone else" but I do remember telling you now that I had this card incoming.

So I just wanted to add that as of this morning, I haven't heard anything from the seller. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because he might be away for the holidays, so I'll be in touch again if he doesn't pull through by then.

Just an update to close things out -- The seller never responded, so I filed a PayPal claim stating my case. Ongoing Caveat Emptor I suppose if you wish to buy from him.

Id say take the hit and leave a negative feedback because if he refund you and everything you will leave a good or neutral feedback and he wont learn anything..

Or

Ask him for 30$ or he'll get his fourth negative feedback :P j/k
