Ok been thinking about this lately with the holidays

How many people on here or have you met in the hobby that you consider an actual FRIEND ....that you would hang out with and things like that???

I know I have a few friends we dont ever trade anymore its more just send eachother stuff we come accross or pull that they might like.

But seriously how many people have you met do you consider an actual FRIEND
 
I'm with Q...he being one of the chief friends I've made on these boards. There are a TON of friends I have met through HI (via Beckett when it was worth being there) and I hope there are a ton more coming.

I remember back in the 90s being just a face at the Expo (and everyone else being "just faces") but in the last 10 years or so, it's like a giant social gathering. That's one of the main reasons I use up three days there. Breaking it down, a total of one day is spent looking/dealing/buying cards and two yukking it up with people.

There are quite a few I would hang with; quite a few I've already hung out with. One of the better parts of the hobby.
 
Distance has reduced the frequency, but on the boards I have met up with at least 4 on multiple occasions and some on a much more regular baisis. Some I may have met but dont realise (shows in Regina as a vendor and Calgary as a shopper).

A few I have met once or twice but by keeping in touch I am glad to call them my friends.

Living in Phoenix makes it tough to really "get together" with people, but going to Expo last month was AWESOME! I met Bruce and Jeremy up there, and I sent an actual Christmas card to another person I've met through trading.

This hobby is the best!
 
I have to say that there are quite a few. The expo is where i get to nerd out with some of them. Some are on my bbm. Facebook etc. i am glad to have those friends in my collection. True 1/1's lol. No dead weight here!

I've been fortunate to make friends on HI from all over the world, and I would count Pete as one of them. Merry Christmas bud! :beer:

I wouldn't have a clue what most of the people I talk to look like, but I sure enjoy coming on HI to share our hobby interests. It's a great place to hang out.

I've made quite a few friends through this hobby. Many of whom are local and I see on a regular basis. I also have plenty of HI friends. I've also made a few enemies along the way too...... :devil:

Pork Scratchings are my favourite! My mum gave me 5 packs this morning as well as some Fruit Pastilles and Minstrels. Awesome present :beer:

The shows for me are definitely 95% social gathering, 5% card chase... since buying the site, I've met TONNES of people in person and I would say a large percentage of them would be guys I would go for a beer with, if in town on business, without hesitation. I started naming the guys I consider friends, and the list was too long... and rather than forget someone by accident, I'd rather just say that I am glad for this hobby... as without it I would have missed out on a GREAT group of friends.
 
I've met so many people collecting cards, going to the shows, and making trades with people over the years that I would definitely consider many to be friends and would be there when and if I could despite juggling so much at any given time.

I have a few ideas to strengthen friendships, not just my own, that I hope to make happen in this hobby one of these days if I can.

This is a real nice thread at Christmas time, I have to say.
