I posted this over at the other side, zero feedback! Maybe someone hear would like to put in there thought on life.
I have a pretty good idea on how I am going this year. But would like to hear other views on the following freshmen.
Do I chance picks on Crosby, Perry, Lehtonen, Niittymaki, Malkin and any other rookie that may make the team? If you had first pick over all, who would you go with?
My pool is scored the fol. 9 forwards, 6 def, 1 goalie, 5 bench ( any position) ( I was thinking about putting Lehtonen on the bench, and picking him late round)
G- 1pt
A- 1pt
Goalie Win- 2 pt
Goalie SO- 3 pt
Basically your goalie is your best player if you can get Brodeur, Turco, or Belfour. Otherwise I will go with a forward, and that will be Kovalchuk.
Do you think that the above rookies will be in the 30-100 point range? What are your projections on the rookies? I know it’s a lot of questions, I will be at the beach all day with the kids, I look forward to people’s views, later all. Lobster feast 2005 is going strong, I am burnt to a crisp, but the little ones are having so much fun.
Questions?
1. If you had first pick over all, who would you go with?
2. Do I chance picks on Crosby, Perry, Lehtonen, Niittymaki, Malkin and any other rookie that may make the team?
3. Do you think that the above rookies will be in the 30-100-point range?
4. What are your projections on the rookies?
5. Will Mario play a full season or will he screw poolies over when they pick him in the first round and he ends up on the injured reserve for 50 games( I know from experience)
6. Last question. I would love to take Hasek ona strong Ottawa team, will he play 60 games.

I wouldn't pick up a Rookie right away, maybe late in the draft. My first pick would be a goalie. Will Lehtonen be the man in Atlanta this year? I would take Khabibulin before belfour.

For a sleeper pick, I would look for Recchi in the 4th or 5th round ;) That boy is gonna run up some major points :D

You heard it here first LOL

I think its too early to tell. You have to see what the final rosters are going to look like after Free Agency kicks in. I would say rookies this year will have better years than most in the past few years for sure. There will be more playing because of the cap and the double rookie crop as well! You will have to see what happens to older vets like John LeClair, etc. and see if they get left out on the cold. If that happens, then there will be more rookies playing and they will most likely do well in the points department....

Thats my 2 cents....

Rod.

Shane, do you necessarily have to pick rookies? The draft we do here in town, if we use rookies, we will wait and have a second mini draft a little ways into the season to pick them to have a better idea of who may be up with the teams or who may not be. That way you don't really throw away a pick on someone who doesn't stay with the big club.

Biggest question from me is, is it just a one season pool, or a multi season pool where you can keep X number of guys next year?

If you can keep, Crosby would be a great choice. Ovechkin and Carter next.

This is not a rookie pool. You draft 9 forwards, 6 def, 1 goalie, and then 5 bench players. I was just wondering if anyone was going to pick Perry, Ovechkin, or any other rookie (Crosby) somewhere within the draft. I was also wondering if anyone thinks the above rookies or any other will score between 30-100 points? Anyway, thx for your opinions, I will wait for the sportscaster to come out with their predictions, usually pretty good. We have to do our pool in August this year as we are training from Sept- Nov, and will miss all the action. Yes I was thinking the same about M Recchi, just in case he, Sid, and Mario play together. My guess is that Sidney will have someone else with size to protect him fore a couple years until he turns into the player we all hope to be. If I don’t get any of the top goalies in the first round, then I will wait until last pick. And also add to Lehtonen to my bench. Pretty much no body in my Battalion has heard of Lehtonen, Niittymaki, and some other rookies that may do well this year. Of the 25 poolies in my online draft, 20 of them will draft by order of the points from 03-04. It’s awesome because I only have to compete with four other people for first prize of 500.00 bucks.
On another note, this is what I was hoping for in a discussion, thx all. PEI lobster feast is on day 8, and I have run out. Back to the pound!

Sorry for the Bump!

Sorry, I won't do this again.
Where are all thge pooolies going to chance Crosby, and the above mentioned names in their hockey draft this year?

I don't like the Sens but I would be tempted to fill a line with Hossa - Havlat - Spezza for a number of reasons. One, they all have a season of hockey under their belts from last year. Two, they are all on the upsite of their careers. Three, Spezza tore it up in the AHL last year playing with less talented players. And four, they've all played together for a few years and should be familiar with each other.

If those three guys play together on the powerplay look out.

I don't follow the Sens. I like all three players. I will have 25 managers in my pool, the odds on one team getting all three is pretty low.

I just took Khabby off my list of goalies that I would like to try and draft.

This year will be a fun draft, 500.00 first prize. Maybe 400.00, and 3 other smaller prizes.
