that is a weak 9.5 opc . But it makes it very clear that I need to get mine graded. I doubt mine would make 9.5 but by that example should grade high

I like the bottom one but cards from the 70's graded high by beckett are not worth the money since they're likely laser cut.

Call me old school but if im buying a Gretzky rc i want some rough cut edge on it like on the first one, second one looks newer then the OPC retro`s they did last year.

Beckett doesnt put the sub grades anymore like edges, surface etc...?

They both grade the same, but the bottom one clearly has a smoother edge on the left.

Greedo got roasted in his boots before he had a chance to even think about firing.

And those are as laser cut as they come.

those are probably from the stack they had a few years ago that were all cut by a laser or whatever

Wrong :|:|

Come on dude, using portions of stories you've heard through the grapevine doesn't count as legit knowledge. First of all, there wasn't a 'stack' of gretz RC's that were sheet cut, there were only 4 (3 BVG's and 1 PSA). And the two cards you see in this auction - one is sheet cut, while the other is supposedly pack fresh. And lastly nobody uses lasers. I honestly don't know where everyone gets that cards are laser cut (or even laser aligned). They're not.

Not trying to be a d*ck so I have to apologize for being abrupt. But it frustrates me when I see statements like that.

Fair enough. Some people like'em, some don't.

On a similar note, has anyone else heard the rumor that Brian Wentz was a silent partner in SCG? Just curious if anyone can verify/disprove that at all.
Thanks

Also, if you look at the description of the Topps 9.5, it says it is a "printer's proof blank back."

The story that I have heard of the card is that the Topps Vault sold a proof sheet that had a blank back. The sheet was then cut and graded. For whatever reason, Beckett did not signify this on the label.
