I do have a lot....unfortunately not perfectly sorted...is ebay in bulk or team lots or even comc a good option(will base of commons sell for at least .31 to make it worth sending in to comc?....i can see stars selling ok but unsure of players of Tom Sestito caliber:D..or say even Hagelin types)

I assume the fastest would be if i have full sets sort those and price to sell...

I donate them to my LCS who packages them and hands them out to kids. I've been someone who has NEVER been able to bother with common cards.

That's a good idea but my LCS probably wouldn't want them.....unless i was just giving capital cards..hockey is probably his worse seller......if i can sort them i would consider it though

My wife is a teacher and once a year or so, usually around Halloween time, I make up a couple dozen "fat packs" of base and insert cards for her to give out to her kids. I even throw in a handful of low end jersey and sticker auto cards for extra surprises if I have them laying around.

If you live in an area with lots of kids trick-or-treating I'd suggest making packs and giving them out. We only get maybe 10 kids a year around my place so it's easier for me to give them to my wife who can pass them on to students. In either case, it gets hockey cards into kids hands! Who knows, some of them may be interested in collecting when they get older and you've helped grow the hobby.

I try to complete as many base sets as possible if i have several base from the same set, otherwise i have had marginal success getting rid of them as team sets, but the shipping kills you.

i was pleasantly surprised how well they were received by trick or treaters. ive also given away 250 ct boxes on facebook groups in our town.I also try to throw in a few low end rookies and or a jersey card. Kids love them.

That's an excellent idea. The Halloween idea seems like a great option. Somehow I don't think many LCS's would want a pile of extra base. I am sure they have their share of that stuff.

I donate all base cards...and a lot of jersey cards...to my local Ronald McDonald House. I have been doing that every year for at least 15 years. But with my son Connor going through his cancer battle and meeting a lot of other cancer families that are actually using the Ronald McDonald House for stays while going through treatment at the Mayo Clinic here, it makes it even more meaningful to me. :)

I've done the Halloween trick or treat option and I've also given hockey cards to my son's teammates every season usually in a tournament goody bag....

When he was in squirts during the squirt International West Fargo had three teams so I gave cards to every player on all three teams with a coupon for my local cardshop.

Ive also given to younger cousins and friends.

I leave them at the LCS to be given to the younger crowd (with their parents' permission) or given to some teachers that frequent the store to be distributed at their school. Otherwise base cards boxed for the Boys and Girls club and / or local hospital.

To add, I love to give them away at Expo. If I break a box, I'll take the base and walk and find a mom or dad with their kids and offer it to them. I've been doing that for the better part of 15 years and seeing the joy in a 5 year old's face after getting free hockey cards at a show like the Expo is pretty cool.

Have to admit that I love base, guess that's the old vintage collector in me. I use to bundle my doubles in small lots mixing some commons, stars and an insert them in a team bag. I use to have a few bigger prizes that was inserted in a few bags, they sold really well at $2-5. After the shows stopped I did the same in a young collectors club I started, it was a club I started to get kids into collecting. I also did the same and passed them out at Halloween along with candy treats to the local kids. I have a few friends who also did them up and gave them to local kids hospitals.

I take my cards to the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital and let the professionals who work there pass them out to the sick kids as they see the need.

I do up packs of ten in team bags and sell them to the local ball hockey rink, who in turn adds them to the season end trophies for the kid's leagues.

I also do packs of ten for Halloween.
