How do you save ebay images?

Since they changed their auction layout, I can't right click and "save as".

Can anyone provide me with detailed instructions of how to do it?

Michael perhaps? I think you said you know how.

Thats such a long way to do it. I will see if there is a program that does it quicker.

Hmmm... I can right-click and save. Maybe if you click on the image to open in another window and then try?

On a side note, I don't care for the new ebay. I get frustrated because I can't tell if the item has just ended, been pulled down, or sold.

I use this free screen capture program called "FastStone Capture 6.5 Shareware" from faststone.org. It works fine for everything I use it for.

I also have no trouble right-clicking and doing a "Save As" which is the easiest option if you don't want to crop the picture.

Save the entire webpage (under file on the browser). One of the save options will create a folder (and a copy of the webpage) with any images seperated. That's the easiest way without installing something. -Adam

1 - Click on the image in the top left, it will open in a new window

2 - Right click on the new image and you will see View Page Source second from bottom

3 - Select that option and another window will open up with all the source code

4 - Hit Ctrl - F on your keyboard to bring up your find tool and type in JPG
This will highlight the first JPG it finds, in green

5 - The photo you want is usually the one that has a 12 right before the .jpg so you will be highlighting all the way back to the http so it will look like http://i.ebayimg.com/08/!BZh14YgBWk~$(KGrHgoH-EYEjlLl2qfnBKnH-BF42w~~_12.JPG or similar

6 - Copy this text (Ctrl C) and then open a new Browser window

7 - Paste that address (Ctrl V) into the address bar at the top and hit Enter

8 - Your photo is now open in a new window and you can Right Click and Save As

That sounds like a lot of steps but once you get used to it you can do it fairly quickly

ok.. if you have windows vista, and I assume windows 7.. this is now even easier!

So click the "enlarge" below the image, it will bring up a new browser window.
Start "Snipping Tool", which can be found under All Programs -> Accessories.

Then once the window with image is open, you click the "new" option from the Snipping tool, which allows you to select a region of the screen, and BAM, it is captured.

Then you click the save "disk" button, and pick your directory and file name for the jpg image.

I ranted about this situation a while ago, and this "Sniping Tool" option is even easier than a right click save.. and on top of it you get the exact cut out of the image you want..

This way works Great! Very Easy once you've done it a couple times, and it was very frustrating to me that ebay cut that out when they changed. Thanks!

Wow, this method is very easy! And it's nice to be able to select the boundaries of the image. I had never heard of the Snipping Tool until now.

I have a Mac and that doesn't work for me. All I have to do is hit Shift-Apple-4. That brings up a new cursor that lets you drag and select the area you want to save. Once you've done that it saves right to your desktop. Sounds pretty much like the snipping tool in Windows.

The bad part about the snipping tools are they do not retain the original image name. I save non-sport images (sketch cards, mostly) and if I snipped I'd have the same card saved numerous times. When sellers list and relist typically the eBay hosting is used and the image name stays the same.

For my purposes this is actually a benefit because before I go to save an image, I check my database to see if I already have it and if not, I save it and rename it according to my file naming convention.

These are the steps that I use, more or less, in Google Chrome. They work well.

It's one additional layer of security through obscurity. Not really valid, but it's one more step to keep many away from doing it.
