How is this possible?

I'm assuming that I'll be in the minority on this.... but is this REALLY such a big deal? Consider the fact that, in a given year, UD produces several million numbered cards. There's bound to be the occasional mistake. It's not the end of the world.

I agree but they are the sole company making NHL hockey cards. They should fix issues as they arise and let the collecting community know it has been identified and fixed.

This could be similar to ITG making extra copies before and not destroying it.

Does UD provide the signee a jersey number stamped card to keep? It would be a cool collector's item for the player. If they do that and the player didn't know & signed 249+ cards, would they notice? Probably not.

...hey, you never know. Anyone here work at UD know this?

The copy on the right was made because whomever at UD so piss poorly made the first copy on the left (WHITE PATCHES IN THE CUP ARE UNACCEPTABLE-SMEAR A PUCK ON IT FIRST FOR GOD SAKES) had to be taken out back and destroyed themselves.

What's next, putting two different serial numbers on the same card?

Yeah, like that'll ever happen...

I wonder if the card #204 then doesn't have number at all i.e. it is serial numbered without being serial numbered.

It could be possible that they replaced another copy but just screwed up the stamping. Printing millions of cards this is bound to happen eventually. But I agree that it should be their responsibility to acquire the cards and destroy one of them in public so that we know the card wont make it back out into the public again.
