a collector approaches your table with a stack of cards in his hand,so the question is,who should reveal a price if both guys keep saying "well tell me what you want for it all, or well how much will you give me for the lot" my last standoff lasted more than 5 minutes where he finally said a price of $120 and i paid it because i was prepared to go to $150
i'm sure everyone has been in this perdicament at one time or another, how did you handle it.:rolleyes::dizzy::confused::curse:

there is not set rule. I explain what I am basing my prices on and I usually have similar cards on my table to prove my point. Depends on the seller tho.. each case is unique.. the key is to be nice about it and be open minded. Last but not least, if there is something like a 20 buck difference, split it between dealer and seller and both are happy. It should NEVER be a stressful situation by any means. If it is, then its north dealing with at all in my opinion.

We usually will have a price in mind when you hand the stack to us. However, in our experience the customer usually comes up and says "will you take $xxx for this?" initializing the barter.

If you are selling a stack of cards to someone I would think you should come up with an initial price. I would expect the same from the person running the table. If they have them all priced out and it totals $200, you should be willing to make your offer, not ask them to give you a price on the lot. That is only my personal thoughts.

I sell to bulk guys "by the card" (meaning, I have 90 cards that range from $1 to $20 in sell value and I want $2 per card across the board for $180). I have a price in mind and I know once they go through the stack, they will too. I start stupid high, they start stupid low and we finish in the middle, most of the time at or around what I wanted to begin with.

That being said, I'm a collector who understands that you as a dealer needs to make money. If it comes down to a standoff, maybe the seller doesn't really want to sell. Fire the first bullet anyway and lowball.

Ask him how many tables he went to before he came to you. If you are in he middle of the pack or near the end I would think he wants too much. JMO.
