How to Take Pics Without Glare?

Hey guys and gals,
My scanner doesn't do well with slabs and I don't much feel like buying a new scanner just for that. So, I thought I'd take pictures with my phone but I have a huge issue with glare. How do you guys combat glare to take clearer pics?

I think investing into a "selfie" light helps a lot. You can get it at the perfect angle to keep the glare off the slab.

Google Photoscan has the best feature I've seen. Take multiple pictures and it makes a composite.

I got a $20 light box off Amazon. Seems ok to take pics with the phone.
