HUGE PULL from Parkhurst Champions (Sort Of)

So I love some of the older parkhurst product and have opened a lot of the product even though the redemption are expired. That is a risk I am aware of and willing to take. Boy, that hurt today though!

Today I pulled a redemption for ......2011-12 Parkhurst Champions Mini Red Ink Auto of Wayne Gretzky /5.

Ouch! Tweeted a photo to Upper Deck. Not that I am expecting much but it can't hurt.
 
There are two unfortunate issues here:

1. Obviously for the collector it sucks and UD really should revisit their policy as the "Exclusive" manufacturer for hockey

2. Seeing as how UD strong arms their distributors into buying every garbage product they pump out in quantity just so they can get decent allocations of the "good" product, it really hurts the distributors and the B&M shops who are stuck with inventory that doesn't sell well, then compound the issue with expired redemptions giving collectors almost no incentive to buy the old stuff


Really sucks that they wouldn't honor this but not surprised. Not trying to be overly negative, just honest - it really speaks volumes about UD's view on the "hobby" and customer care. If Panini is still honoring hockey redemptions and sending replacements to boot, no reason the "Exclusive Manufacturer of NHL Licensed Cards" can't.

Expired redemptions, expired gift certificates, etc should be against the law. Just a loop hole for the manufacturer to get all the financial benefit of a sale and walk away without of having to provide the value to the customer in the end. :foottap:
Terrible service for any company to do this to their customers. But as mentioned previously, with Upper Deck this is par for the course.

I think it's really sad for ANY card. They need to stop giving away cards as replacements and keep them for when they get pulled regardless of the date it expires.
 
I am more frustrated with the over all policy. Obviously, I would love my card but the rules are clear..they are just stupid. At some point upper deck got these cards in stock and they should stay at the Upper Deck warehouse until someone pulls the redemption for them.

Instead they throw them in as "hits" a second time. Collectors hate that.

So what will happen to my Gretzky probably sent out to replace another card they didn't make or they damaged.
 
On one hand I get it. Does anyone believe that Upper Deck should still be honouring 'You Crash The Game' redemptions from the mid 1990s? Probably not..... I don't... so there is a line somewhere, when this becomes "okay".

That all being said, your card isn't anywhere close to that line (for me). They should absolutely still honour it.

The sad thing is - when Panini was still in the game, they probably would have. I've had the expired redemption issue once myself, but it was during the stretch when there was no exclusive. I pulled an SPA SOTT triple of Esposito / Bucyk / Orr #ed to 15, I think. It had expired for a couple of months at that point, they took the code over the phone, and I had the card in hand a couple of weeks later.

They've got an exclusive now, so they can get away with whatever they want. Too bad you don't get to own that card.
 
Didn't they repack mostly everything where redemptions didn't get redeemed and put it on that Buyback stuff?
I find that UD should not put expiry dates on stuff, Like really they can't expect every product to sell out and for every redemption to get pulled.
This is a way of them upsetting the collector's or at least the guy buying an old product in hopes of finding some old memories
 
I bought a blaster of Ultra on a lunch break once and hit a redemption for a Price RC that was expired. I contacted UD and they honored it so give it a shot.
 
I would keep calling and calling until they capitulate.

Blast this on social media as well, as they are very active online.

I know that it is a "rule", but for a card like that, you should be given something to help cleanse the salt from the wound... just my opinion!
 
I think we go on a tweeting campaign and get this man his Gretzky!!!!

That is total crap, that card or all /5 of them should be sitting in a vault, WAITING for the redemptions to be hit....Cards don't expire, they get damaged if anything...Either that or drastically reduce the price like an expiring piece of meat before the product spoils...

2011, or 2061 that card should be available unless all /5 redemptions were destroyed.

I am all for putting a little pressure on them but am not sure I will get far on the phone. They just give you the same thing over and over...redemption expired.

I tweeted them when I first pulled the card and they just sent me the link to their stupid raffle.
 
This is why I don't break much stuff with expired redemptions. Just too big a risk of pulling a big expired redemption card. I see older The Cup broken all the time just to get a big fat expired redemption.

I understand the manufacturers just can't keep it forever. Space becomes an issue. But wish the expiry period would be like 10 years or so.
