Well folks. The time has come. I am leaving the hobby. I have decided there is a lot more important things in life than a piece of card board.

There have been several incidents over the last little while that have helped me make up my mind for good.

1. I have been the victim of sour grapes. One member on this site has bid up several of the items I have been bidding on due to the fact that he had to pay a huge amount for a card that both him and I wanted. I put a snipe on the card and lost. That is fine seeing as though the person also sniped but for a higher amount. Pitiful though that the guy is pi$$ed and taking action on me by bidding up other cards that he has no interest in.

2. I had a sale of 09/10 Between The Pipes Cards that had unbelievable prices. No matter how low the prices, people on this site still felt reason to submit lowball offers. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. This site has become pro-ITG. This is not a bad thing, however I believe that Dr. Brian Price should not be on a hobby site peddling his wares. I truly believe this is extremely unprofessional. This became even more unethical when the owner of this site received loaded boxes of the ITG product. I know this has happened with other manufacturers, but this puts ITG up there in the same category as the rest of them.

4. When I entered the hobby, I pulled an extremely valuable card. This card was supposedly lost when shipped to a member on this site. I have reason to believe that this card is in the possesion of that same member. Whats the point in making an issue out of it.........I have no recourse.

As of today, I have a collection of Ryan Smyth cards in excess of 1200 cards. I am proud of my collection, but likely it will end up going to the highest bidder for a grand total of $12.32 plus shipping.

There are great members on this site and I wish you nothing but the best in the future. Take care of yourselves.

Good-Bye.

Sorry to hear that you are not enjoying the hobby now.Sorry that some people here have turned you into feeling this way.I have had the pleasure of dealing with you a couple times. You are a class act all the way and wish you all the best.

I've never dealt with you or know who you are. However, do you have any proof that there were "loaded" boxes as you put it? I know that some of the boxes of ITG that I've seen opened in front of me have been loaded with some nice cards. That's called a manufacturer who gets "it". Collectors don't want crap. So saying this with no proof will probably help you with your quest out of the hobby. Off these boards at least I would imagine.

As for Dr Price "peddling his wares".... What a crackpot statement. If other company owners gave two craps about the collectors, they could be here as well peddling the same old crap that they always do. Dr P in my mind is on here to get new ideas and hear what the collectors think and what kind of products they would like to see in the future. I suppose that if you don't have an agreement with the nhl or nhlpa, you need to listen to your customer to stay in business. Go figure.

I'll finish by saying that if you know that someone on this site was bidding you up, post their name so that we all know who it is. That's not cool and not something that you would expect to see on this site.

Either way, I hope that you find something that brings you the same feeling that you got when card collecting was enjoyable.

You have the right to express your opinion, but I do not believe this extends to ad hominem attacks. The dedicated people you are attacking do not deserve these slurs.

I can understand becoming disaffected with the boards from time to time. I found myself leaving one site for several months because members were being nasty to each other. However, it is not fair to take this out on those who are trying to make the experience better. If you cannot enjoy the hobby, then indeed it is time to go.

Finally, I also believe you are waaaaaay off concerning ITG, Dr. Price, and their relationship to HI.

I feel bad for you man. Stories 1 and 4 sound HORRIBLE. Story number 2 seems pretty common though as I have been on other sites and people have been stupid. Maybe its a magnitude thing or something but anyway I'm sure this was not the reason you quit the hobby. I won't comment on #3 too much but I agree with some points and am not qualified to make a judgement on others but I think that's more support than most other replies have been

I wish you luck on your sales, luck on your future endeavours, just please don't start patch faking haha.

That sucks and what you should have done was provided proof to the big man (Bruce) and knowing his short fuse for that kind of crap, your "problem" would have at least lost the privilege of being on this site.

Welcome to the world of card collecting. This is nothing new and certainly nothing to get upset about. I go through this here, at shows, at shops and on eBay. Thicker skin helps.

I've had boxes as loaded (if not loadeder!) than the ones Bruce got. They are opened at the Expo or even in my own home and the only one who really sees it is me and those who view my box breaks on this site. 200 views doesn't constitute mass advertising for ITG. Someone else mentioned it, but they're a company that "gets it".

As for him peddling his wares, why shouldn't he? It's a hobby and he's not here literally selling anything. He gives us (people who collect his cards) information and provides an inside opinion that he really doesn't need to. Brian makes himself available to the public and open for face to face dialogue. If Tricky Richie McGreedy did that, he'd CERTAINLY get knocked out.

4. When I entered the hobby, I pulled an extremely valuable card. This card was supposedly lost when shipped to a member on this site. I have reason to believe that this card is in the possesion of that same member. Whats the point in making an issue out of it.........I have no recourse.

This is a life lesson for you. If you did pull "an extremely valuable card", then your right to any sort of recourse would have been saved if you had shipped it registered and insured. I send low dollar cards without insurance because frankly, if someone rips me off for a $3 card, they probably needed it more than I did. For high dollar cards, that ain't gonna happen.

Sorry to hear your experiences in the hobby weren't that good, but you had to expect that. It's a slice of life and life isn't always fair. Hopefully you find joy doing something else because it certainly wasn't found collecting cards.

i buy a pack of any itg i get something i buy a pack of ud i get base mr price has got my vote for life with his products as for your issues with traders well win most lose 1 or two i have and i live with it without crying to everyone about it and going back to itg i spend 110 on a box of btp and get 3 autos a stick and 2 jerseys what did your ud box series 1 or 2 or black diamond or champs or mvp get you have a good one

When I read a post such as this one, two things go through my head:
1) You have no intention of actually leaving the hobby. Those who leave, simply leave. There is no announcement to that effect.
2) The real point of this is that you want people to feel sorry for you and sympathize with your story. If you want sympathy, you can find it in the dictionary about midway between "snot" and "syphilis".

Screeds and polemics have no home on this board. And for the record, I will be just as harsh on an anti-UD tirade as an anti-ITG one. Enough negativity.

This thread is way done.

So tell me... what is the point of ITG giving "the owner" loaded boxes when I GIVE ALL THE HITS AWAY! I have purchased cases of ITG and gotten bad boxes along with good boxes, just like Ryan stated.

And as Steve said, if you were really leaving... you will just leave. So, since that is your intention... let me show you the door with a swift boot in the backside to ensure you don't come back.

Nobody questions my integrity. Nobody.
