Hey Everyone,

So I have thought about this topic here and there, but more so when I see game used cards of vintage players.... What are your thoughts on how we are taking a game used jersey of a vintage player such as Howe, Dionne, Esposito, etc., and chop it up into thousands of little pieces and call it collectible. Dont get me wrong, this is all I collect. It just makes me think, there are only so many game used jerseys from some of these players left. Modern players I dont worry about so much because we could technically get their jersey after each game.

As a jersey collector, I absolutely hate it. Not so much on the vintage stuff as I will never be able to afford any of it and could never realistically get one of the jerseys. However I do collect WHL goalie jerseys and seeing jerseys cut up in the past by ITG for Heroess and Prospects, it sucked. But it is what it is. Thankfully most if not all newer jersey cards in UD products come from jerseys only worn for a game or a period luckily.

I don't mind it.

I'm a hockey card collector first and foremost, so to have the opportunity to own pieces of NHL history is pretty darn cool.

If I want to enjoy these types of high-end pieces in full, then I can visit a Hall Of Fame and enjoy them that way.

How many people are every going to see that jersey? Relative to the number of hockey fans out there (or whatever sport) not many.

I don't think dicing up a Bobby Orr jersey makes that piece of history less accessible, because now i cant walk through the HOF every 5 years and see it. I think the opposite is true: little pieces in more people's hands keeps interest in past eras stronger.

Let's he honest: How many people on this board would know names like Tiny Thompson, Clint Bennidect, etc if it wernt for game used cards?
