I committed a "card"inal sin

I know people have varying viewpoints on this...and they all have their validity.

Here's mine...film on a card is UGLY and prevents it's beauty from showing.

So here's my before and after. When it's PC the film is GONE and I don't even feel bad about it.

Do you guys have anything you do to "alter" a card when you know it's PC?

Honestly, if it’s your pc, and not going to go anywhere, I don’t see an issue with it. If it makes the card look nicer(albeit less value) I don’t see an issue with it. Looks great!

I peeled all the ones that were on Leaf Preferred Steel Cards.. i couldn't stand it.. and
my all 05-06 Trilogy frozen in Time cards.. i want to see that damn card! lol

I don't peel them since I like the pack pulled versions, but, they are much nicer peeled so it's good for the PC.

I have peeled all my finest, Certified, Pinnacle Totally Certified, Leaf Preferred Steel, and Trilogy Frozen in Time cards as well. They look way nicer that way.

This. I go for two copies.... peel one, not the other. OCD is happy with this.


I've cracked slabs in a few cases too.

I've never peeled a card, however just wondering how grading companies would look at the card, would the surface marks get destroyed since it's not original ?

Overall I am glad to see that there are people out there who aren't so anti-peeling. And as I mentioned, I understand the argument both ways. It seems the pure baseball collectors are against it the most.

That said, to answer the grading question...I have seen PSA 10s on both peeled and unpeeled cards. But PSA considers the surface to be the peel layer if unpeeled, so any bubbling or such would count against what is otherwise a pristine surface beneath that.

If it's for pc, do as you wish. However, many a pc turns into sales bait on down the road!

I was reorganizing some of my available cards last week and noticed some of my unpeeled Frozen in Time cards are yellowing on the white paper you peel off. I can see that being an eye-sore if any of those were part of my pc.

Peel, peel, peel! I've always peeled my cards. I loathe the peel off print coating, lol.

Collecting is all about what makes you happy. It is your card so if you want to peel off the coating than good for you. I have broken cards out of grading cases and back in the late 70's and 80's I checked off all my cards off the set checklist. I still have them and love them.

peeled cards look WAY better but I cant seem to bring myself to doing it. In my opinion I would think the "pack pulled version" would be worth more if you try and sell it. My Pinnacle Certified cards ALL have protective film on them and if I get one without the peel then I try my best to replace it over time. So far there's only been 3 that needed replaced.
