I Need HUGE eBay Help Guys!!

Hey everyone

I have a pretty big eBay crisis on my hands. First off here is the card:

I have no clue if little_italian is a HI member?

This card ended just over a week ago and I won it. It is the last Cup plate I need to finish my Bobby Ryan Master Set. It is no where near worth $350. I have boughten other highend Ryans, and other cards from little_italian before and have had no problems at all. Im sure that I got shill bidded though. I contacted ebay and they looked into it. They said they cannot confirm that there was shill bidding involved. Which I disagree. I have not yet paid for the item and want to know how you guys would go about it??

I, for one thing cannot afford to pay $350 US right now for the card. It is no where near worth that amount as every other Ryan plate has gone for $160 or less. I know that I shouldnt have put a bid of $350 US on it but I was gone all weekend and didnt have any access to a comp. (I generally put big bids on cards I really need even though I know they will sell for less. Im sure everyone on here has done that before!?) By the time I got home I couldnt even try to retract my bid. I just dont know what to do as I know I got shill bidded. If I wouldnt got shill bidded I wouldnt have started this thread! All help is greatly appreciated as I am stumped on what to do and say to the seller as eBay has done really nothing for me.

you placed the bid...pay for the card...if you didnt intend to pay 350.00 you shouldnt have made that high of a bid...live and learn....
 
Well if Ebay has looked into it and havn't found any evidence of shill bidding, then really only is one thing to do.... pony up. Really you shouldnt put bids that high, i understand you were out of town, but im not sure what you where thinking.
 
Gotta agree with the majority here... you placed the bid, you've gotta pay.

But this begs the question - why didn't you use a sniping program? Why are there still people out there who don't use them? Just blows the mind that with other resources out there you place a bid and let things like this happen...

How can you possibly say that? The guy has bids out there with 8 different sellers. Just because the guy stopped at $350 doesn't make it a shill. He obviously realized it was WAY to high for the card and quit so he didn't have to pay.

Like others have said...you bid $350, so pay it. I can't believe you would say that "you can't afford it right now"...especially when you have 26 other bids out there right now.

Sniping programs don't always work, I used to use one but it didn't work for me on a pretty rare card, I'm just lucky someone I knew won it...
 
i'm going to also agree with everyone else

Even IF you got shilled, when you put a max bid it is what you are willing to pay. If you put 350, then you should pay it.

As for the shill bidding.. well contact ebay to get rid of that tool. But that doesn't mean you're not going to pay that 350.

I have bought from little_italian before several times and never had a problem. You admitted you can't afford this card-so you call it "shill bidding" to get out of paying for it? How old are you, dude.

I know recently you had some cards for sale on eBay under your "rodsfoods" name as you were trying to sell the same ones here. People bid on your auctions-and close to the end you pulled the auction-I would assume it was because you weren't getting what you wanted. (given the high prices you placed on this board earlier). How fair is that to the people who placed actual bids?

You seem to have a weird way of doing things, it's time you took responsibility like the rest of us. Play fair or keep off the bay. Plain and simple.
 
Hopefully you learned a lesson in all this. Only bid what you are willing to pay. :beer:

Dang rights. little_italian wouldn't bother playing the shilling game. Some people that don't want to pay need to grow up and pay what they bid. And while they're at it- quit yanking auctions just because they're not getting the price they want. Sorry, Matthew, but I wouldn't want to deal with you too badly.

Nah, kinda spoiled it for yourself here on this one. Showed us how you deal when you cant get what you want. If that is true about pulling your auctions then thats sick, and pretty darn low. I had just posted a thread on that the other day where I saw an auction with no reserve with bidders, just to find the card turn up after the auction supposedly closed with a bin of 299.... guess the seller didnt get what he wanted, too bad take the loss, and this here looks like one of your losses. sorry.

Can't afford to pay don't bid!!, Also check this guy's feedback,and over 9000 transactions, and the ultra high end cards he has, I doubt he shill bids on a Bobby Ryan card!
 
Maybe someone knew you were after it and screwed with the bidding to piss you off? I can't see LI nickle and diming this auction.
 
Sorry to say but you shouldn't have bid that high if you couldn't pay for it. If you were shilled or not is not the point as much as you bid way more then you are able to pay, you created the problem for yourself. There is always a chance (esp with a 1/1) that there will be stiff bidding for that item, you should never have bid higher then you could afford.

Try emailing the second highest bidder to see if they want to buy the card. You might also try emailing the seller and see if he would be willing to relist the item if you paid him/her for all the fees that he/she got from the first sale. If the item sold for that much more then you think it normally would then I doubt the seller is going to want to risk relisting it when they sold it so high already.

IMO you bid for it so you are obligated to buy it.
