But, it opens the doors to many things.

I don't know exactly in which terms he left the Beckett organization. But, would it be possible that he uses his connections with the Beckett organization to overvalue Panini cards in the price guide, and manipulate the journalists to turn articles into big publicity over Panini products?

This is by no means a bad thing! Al knows a lot about hockey and the industry from his past work. He was always quite accessible as well. This actually gives me a nice glimmer of hope for future panini products!

But isn't value from completed sales haha? I doubt that he will have any influence over the BV, regardless I will still only pay what I feel is the going rate just like 90% of all collectors. BTW do anyone still read or follow beckett?

Funny but I think it is a good thing. I like Al and I think his years of experience will be a good thing for collectors :beer:

While I've never had a comfortable perception of the hometown relationship between the post-Dr. Beckett era Beckett and the Donruss/Leaf/Playoff company, this sure beats some DLP crony applying their past product models to the new Panini hockey product-lines. Al should have a pretty good idea on what makes us tick.

I'm not familiar enough with any bad blood, if there really was any. Anyway, if anything, I think this is outstanding for Al, Panini, and collectors. Al won't be a faceless business manager, but someone who understands hockey and hockey cards. To me, this shows that there will be some heart put into their hockey product line. I just hope he doesn't face the same challenges Karvin had to face at UD.
