So I am soon to be the beneficiary of what amounts to a huge promotion and a 20% raise. I decided to reward myself with cardboard. I wasn't sure when to post these because I have a couple more coming in but I am not sure when they will get here and I wanted to just kind of time-release these additions.
I decided to start a Wayne Gretzky collection. He is in many of the sets the I like so I can have one PC (sets I like) feed into another PC (the Gretzky PC).
First up were these guys. They are both the refractors. I put this set together a couple of years ago but I could never find a Gretzky. I was able to find two within a few days.
Gretzky Red Lighters
My second pick up was kind of a dual pick up. I am contemplating putting together the 98-99 Bowman's Best Refractor set. This is one of my pick ups that fits in that set and also begins the Gretzky PC in addition to the Red Lighters Refractors above.
1998-99 Bowmans Best Refractors Wayne Gretzky
I contacted someone who has a lot of 90's Hockey so I figured he may be able to help me compile some pieces for my 98-99 Bowman's Best refractor set. In addition, he had these guys for sale so I inquired and purchased them:
1996-97 Pinnacle Zenith Artist's Proof Gretzky_20180630_0001(0)
I couldn't afford any of these guys growing up. Nevermind being able to afford the Gretzky. That just wasn't within my means then.
1995-96 PInnacle Zenith Z Team Wayne Gretzky
I grabbed these next three because I like BGS 9.5 cards AND I like the design of that years SPX.
SPX Base
Really like the design. Grabbed the Sample from the same seller:
SPX Sample
I knew nothing about these cards. I just really liked the design.
1997-98 Pinnacle Certified Certified Team Gertzky
So I wanted to go with an OPC but I ended up winning this via an auction. The price was about half of a PSA 5 OPC so I cannot complain. This motivated me to add a couple more cards that are still in transport.
