Great pickup!...a little pricey, but definitely an important piece for a player collector!

That seller has had some dandy stuff up lately...I too was bidding on a 98/99 SOTT Gold Holsmstrom /96 tonight from the same seller. I needed it for my Wings SOTT project and this was only the 2nd one I had ever seen, so I threw in a late bid of a little over 2x bv...and a sniper got me for a nickel more! :|:|

I did however win this one from the seller earlier tonight (for way less than expected), so I'm happy :dance::dance:....

Really nice card. Signature and all. Regardless of the price just a nice addition to your collection. Can't pass up an opportunity, it might not resurface and those cards aren't around every day.
 
I had a feeling you were going to win that one. The prices those yield make me think back about how stupid I was. I pulled a Hull and a Kurri, and traded them both way too cheap. Nice snag.

Holy jinkies... that's a lot. I'm glad my Hawerchuk is tucked away in my collection already! I definitely wouldn't be able to pick one up at those prices!

Great pick-up!! Kinda high but if you need it for the pc sometimes you have to make a few extra sacrifices and here you sacrificied a few extra bucks!! Honestly I would of done the exact same thing!!

Can someone explain the story? Is there something more to it than it being popular, since at /25 it doesnt seem that rare.

I guess when they dry up they're gone eh?
 
It's a super popular set that still has enough set builders out there to keep prices high in demand for player collectors. They were also terribly diffcult to pull (set dates from 99/00 and 00/01, with recent updates as players reach 500). There were only 1 or 2 players per product, so they were indeed rare to pull.
