Well, it's been almost three months since my summer-long hiatus. I was able to stay away from the hobby for the most part during my hectic work weeks.

I was able to spend some down time golfing, reading, discovering more sports documentaries and new music and just spending quality time with family and friends.

But boy did time fly. I can't believe we are knee-deep into September already.

I hope you all had a great summer and are looking forward to a great season of hockey (and hockey cards). Did you all know that Mr. Linden is back. I for one am very excited at the direction the Canucks are going (compared to where the were just six months ago).

I was able to stay off the boards for the most part (other than the odd pm response) and my daily....hourly ebay searches were cut cold turkey - for about six weeks. Then I decided to take a quick peek.

To my surprise, there was nothing new. One Playoff Contenders Legacies card /499. The perfect time for a Linden lull in the hobby.

I decided to take a peek again about a week later. Still nothing. Then, every other day. Until.......

Let me begin by saying that I have my Linden wantlist set up chronologically so that the earliest card is at the top and the newest releases are on the bottom. And while I've tackled many of the early Linden cards from the "junk wax" era, there are a couple of tough parallels that still have avoided me.

Wouldn't you know it, one of those cards reared it's ugly face during my hiatus.

In fact.....it was the first card on my wantlist.

Yup....other than 1/1's, it's the earliest-released Linden still on my wantlist.

Hiatus over. At least to bid on this card. And I bid hard. Thankfully, the card ended for less than half what I was willing to pay. I was giddy when I opened the envelope.

1998/99 Topps Gold Label Class 3 Red /25

Nemesis defeated!!!!

I have been looking for this card for 15 years and have never, EVER seen a copy. I was convinced (for many years) that I'd never find it. Well, patience pays off.

For those of you who don't know the Topps Gold Label goodness, there are three different colors parallels, each with three different "classes". That means nine different Linden cards to chase. Oh, and did I mention that there's a 1/1 parallel of each card.

Topps Gold Label ruined my dream of owning one of every Linden card in existence. A dream that I was fully immersed in until 1998.

But I own you now!!! And it's the final non-1/1 from that release I needed.

Here's the back in case you wanted to see it. The serial numbering is on the right side (12/25). This Class 3 Red is the rarest of all the parallels.

So with that, I officially botched on my hiatus. And in fact, I did pick up a couple more Lindens over the next week (the price was way too good to pass on). But that's been it. I haven't chased a single National Treasures card, or OPC, or Prime - nothing. I think I did pretty darn good.

And with any good hiatus, the return can be equally as fun.

So I've got a bit of a longer wantlist now. Anyone got Lindens?

(oh....and in case anyone is interested, the card on the top of my list now...1999/00 Be A Player Millennium Emerald /10. Ugh.)

Wow good for you on tracking that one down!!! That card is a beauty. I love the Gold Labels. I kinda regret selling my Hasek 98 red class 3 /25 lol

Those Topps Gold Labels are probably my favorite set of all time. Even the base cards are beautiful. I had a red class 3 Ray Bourque like your Linden there /25 for years, and finally moved it out a year ago, as I decided to just focus on autographs. Kind of wished I had kept it now.

good to see you back, sort of i guess, lol. nice looking Linden, heres hoping for more in your future

great pickup! Congrats! It does feel good to finally land a card you have been chasing for a long time.

It keeps me motivated in the hobby, especially when I go long periods of time waiting for anything good on my wantlist to surface.

Welcome back Brett! Congrats on knocking the top card off your list. See you tomorrow at Darren's?

I just bought about a dozen packs of that GL & ended up pulling a Robert Reichel Red Label Class 3. My first Red from that year. Love the GL set & will pick when i get the chance. Still a very hard card to find. Congrats!

What a way to get back in the game!
