Has anyone ever tried to follow serial numbered card more than say 25?

I know it would be hard cause not everyone would be a member on here, or other sites and not everyone is a true collector ( aka pull a #'d card and throws it away, or just puts it on top of the fridge and forget about it ).

I think it would be sorta neat for a site where you can post the serial numbers and then you have an idea of how many are out in the market/collections and have yet to be pulled from wax boxes.
A friend of mine tried to do it with the buyback autograph rookie for Kovalchuk /9 which was I think inserted in 03-04 UD. He found 7 of them which meant 2 were still in boxes/wax or unaccounted for.
It would be one heck of a job to follow everything since now 90% of cards are now numbered.

I tracked Abdelkader Cup Rookies last year.. Over the course of 365 days, I tracked
140 of the 249 ARPs
5 of the 8 Jersey # RPs
17 of the 25 Golds
35 of the 60 Plates
and the 1/1 was found

It would be a neat idea, but unfortunately, I can't see a case where it would ever be as accurate as we'd prefer it to. I still know of a few offline collectors that don't wheel and deal online, and collect to themselves. So as a result, some of those cards out of 9 or out of 10, 25 or whatever are in fact out of packs, but may never see the light of day or surface to where we could archive them.

I did the same for Colton Gillies
192 of the 249 ARPs
13 of the 18 Jersey # RPs
19 of the 25 Golds
and the 1/1 I had than sold

I am basically doing this with 03/04 BD Clarity. I know my list is not 100% accurate by any means, as it is basically impossible to keep track of them all due to things like a collector not selling or being a member of a card board (not intended, but man that one is bad), only being a weekend warrior dealer, etc.

I have found my list to be helpful when certain cards from the set come up. If I know that 7 of the 10 have been accounted for, then when one of the remaining three surface, I can bid/offer accordingly.

I haven't tracked anything with a run as high as 25, but I do keep scans of things like Complete Packages with runs of nine or less just to keep an archive.
