I'm not directly meaning to bring up the 'other site' however I am going to be over here pretty much exclusively now, the 'other site' not at all. This is not against anything in the hockey board, that is the best board on the entire site. My biggest beef is the baseball board, the people who are in control of that board have now gone over the top. I am not elaborating because this isn't the place for it. However, since I don't accept what is happening on that board, I have expressed that I am completely done with the 'other site' as well as the services they provide.

Does this mean that my collection will suffer because of it. Possibly, it also means I'm going to rely on other's for BV in trades. But here I am to stay - hopefully I can be involved in the baseball board and get that pumped up a little.

An excellent decision! Why yes..... :D

I as well enjoy my time here alot more than over there....

One of these days, I'm gonna have to visit the other non-hockey boards over there. I swear, I hear nothing but bad things about them. I gotta see it for myself I think....

I visit both sites, but you can't even compare the two sites. This site is so much better, especially the board members here.

I think the problem is that they tout themselves on quantity of posts and members. Whereas, I much prefer the QUALITY that HI provides. Way too many loose cannons over there.

Wish I could disagree with Scott. Baseball's an embarrassment over there, but that's just my opinion. The mods in there do what they can, but it's really the membership in there that's just out of control. They're going to need to clean house and harshly - and it's going to mean loss of members. Beckett REALLY doesn't want that, but if they wanna keep the boards, they've got some really tough decisions ahead of them.

Lately - the last year or so - they've been a source of constant problems for a variety of reasons. There's now a dedicated admin for them and there are a LOT of policy decisions being decided from on high. Personally, I think they oughta scrap'em and start over with a pay-for-use system, but include a lot more security and better delineated rules for both moderation and members.

I'm rambling, aren't I? :(

Beckett let's crooks over there just change IDs and continuously screw over innocent collectors. It ruins the hobby for everybody. Here, someone even attempts that, permaban. I wuvs my HI :D :)

*gets the guitar and plays Kumbaya (sp?) song*

I go there and read the message boards but I avoid the trade boards. Trading here feel safe, everyone knows each other plus you can read feedback.

I totally agree with the safe feeling over here. I venture over to the dark side now & then because I think I've drained almost everyone here of their fleury/clark cards I need, but new members = new cards :D

The 'other site' could really benefit from a transactions forum and a feedback system. I only have like 50 posts over there and over half the 'deals' I've made on there have never come through.

Not to echo what a lot of you have already said, but the feedback is the single biggest source of trust, and my main reason for being here. I admit, I read more on the other site only because there is more volume to absorb, but I don't frequent the Trading boards too much, and usually will not approach someone unless I know them well enough.

The people here are of a higher calibre, even if there isn't as much to read through.

I definitely enjoy these boards more that the "others" and continue to see "double" posts by vegaspuck and quincy. For trading, I just don't trust some of the members on the "other" site, too many kids for my liking. No one ever has any money and no one even takes the time to say I'm not interested after looking at your tradelist. IMHO, there are a lot of immature jerks over there who just like to start trouble and stir the pot (Fullbag comes to mind immediately). I also like the way that the board is separated over here so I don't have to read about the mojo pulls or mail days and can concentrate on trades/purchases and league/hobby information.

Steve,

You guys are doing a great job over there, I'm referring to the deterioration of the baseball board. The moderators (and Beckett editor for that matter) need to take some lessons from the hockey guys. Unfortunately, they have gone so far overboard, I'm no longer interested in doing business with Beckett. There are quite a few long time members leaving because of it. Some have left due to 'hissy fits' but others are leaving because of the lack of simple courtesy given by the moderator and the beckett editor.

Scott,
The only thing really to say is that courtesy has been given, and returned at the point of a steel-toed boot to the crotch. Pushback from the users on that board has been ridiculous, way out of proportion to the imagined slights.

As much as I like both sites I have to say I have had more sucess over there with trades. It must be the fact that there is way more action on the trade boards over there. I haven't had any problems with trades as of yet but I do have about 15-20 packages incoming right now so you never know. I do admit though that some of the other sections are WAY out of control. Hockey doesn't seem too bad and as long as you check refs and so on you can do well safely.

I agree with all of you, the other site I use and read all the time because some of the posts are quite informative especially when chasing rookies in baseball. As for the conduct? If your not one of the originals or a chromie your not wanted, go simply ask them who you think is gonna be the hot rookie and someone will tell you off. It's weird sort of in a glee club high school sort of way, you know if you don't know the brotherhood handshake and your a jock your not invited. Really weird it indeed needs work. The hockey boards are ok although still once in awhile someone sneaks in there and tries to ri people off like that guy in Nova Scotia wanting to trade his high enders but wants you to send first, think he burned a few people there. I never see problems here and if there is they get taken care of. I just wish we had more populus.
