i wish i could answer either of your questions. i do know that to id the card as pack pulled, look for a swirl texture on the card which helps differentiate it from the regular base card which is flat.

There's two versions of the autos available. The "swirl" patterned version comes from packs. The one without the swirl come from the factory sets that were available for order through The Bay. There were 750 pack inserted per player and reportedly 2500 complete autographed sets available through The Bay - though it's very unlikely that anywhere near that had ever surfaced.

What is this "swirl" you speak of? I have a Paul Henderson gold auto and a Ken Dryden blue auto... I believe the Dryden is an after-market auto though.

the autos from the pack pulled ones were all in gold ink i believe. if you look at the pack pulled auto cards, they look like they have thumbprint whorls (sp?) or swirls on them. my scan isnt high enough resolution to see them, but once you have seen one, they are impossible to miss

i can try to take a higher resolution scan later
