Interesting stats for the Big M

I was bored today so I thought I'd do some surfing at hockeydb.
I was checking out my guy's (Frank Mahovlich) career stats. I was surprised to
discover how well Frank played at the end of his career. Just for comparison;

He played 11 seasons in Toronto, this doesn't include his first NHL starts as he only played 3 games that first year. From 57-58 until his last season in Toronto
which was actually split between the Leafs and Red Wings. He averaged 55-56
points per season, not shabby I guess back in the 6 team era.

Once he was traded to the Wings and then on to the Habs, in 6 seasons he averaged 81-82 points per season, we're into the expansion era but still, very nice totals.

Taking it a step farther, in his final 3 NHL campaigns with the Habs he put up
an average of 89-90 points per season. I never realised just how good he played at the end of his NHL career. Frank would have been 36 years old in his final NHL season.

He did play in the WHA for four seasons and averaged 69-70 points, this is
not counting his second last season in which he only played in 17 games due to injuries.
Anyone else come to mind, that continued to play at a high level in the latter stages of their career's. I know there are quite a few that did, lets hear
what you think.

Ron Francis is one of my favorite older players. Averaged almost a point a game (77 points in 80 games) at the ages of 38 and 39. At the time that he did it, 2001-2002, the NHL was in the very beginning stages of getting away from the big man's game of the 90's leading into the 2000's and for a player of Francis' age and physique to put up those numbers on that team is pretty remarkable stuff. He wound up being 10th in the league in scoring. In that same year, Adam Oates, a year older than Francis, was the 8th leading scorer in the league. Two remarkable players that are overlooked and underappreciated.

I agree whole heartedly with Francis, to put up 77 points at 39 years of age is a
helluva feat. Also one of the classiest individuals to ever play the game.

How about Selanne last year. Don't have the stats in front of me but alot of people (myself included) had written him off. He was dominate!

Mahovlich in Habs was my favorite and goota say like Selanne a lot. Wish he would come back to Winnipeg for 1 year!
