holy crap, you could buy every Richards shield made so far and still have change left over with that amount. (even after fighting off lummox).

I have really defined my buying. Once I bought whatever I liked which was pretty much everything. Now I am very selective over what I buy, I don't buy as much but I do still buy.

I've been buying because I'm still working. If I lose my job, the buying will stop. Also, I collect stuff that no one else does (complete non-insert, non-auto, non-game-used sets). It seems that less people are opening enough product to put sets together.

I purchased many of the OPC/Topps sets from the 1980's so I now have rookie cards of Messier, Yzerman, Lemieux, Roy, Hull, etc. in near mint/mint condition.

The economy hasnt really bothered my spending. I have slowed down some though. I have realized that if you just buy whatever cards you think are cool it gets super costly. So I now just focus on my PC players. All though it can be costly still to get them.

Buying is easy. Finding sellers with cards I need is tough. Correction, finding sellers with cards that don't expect an arm and a leg for cards I need are tough. $45 for a SOTT auto? $2500 for an Artifacts Gold 1/1 RC? $100 for a SPGU Triple jersey /25? Since when did Richie start outselling Ovy and Sid?

If it's reasonable, I'm ready to buy. If it's not...choke on it.

My purchasing has completely stopped! [Sorry Wayne ]. Being that I work in the all but non-existent auto industry the economy has hit me harder than most. I'm down to 3 days a week at work. I have had to cut all non-essential spending just to pay the bills. I have gone from 1-2 boxes every couple of weeks to not having bought a single card/pack/box since Christmas. I am even forgoing the Expo this time around in favour of saving a little bit of $$$. I am gradually building a little pot and expect to be back with a bang by the Fall Expo. In the mean time I just log on to H.I. and drool.......

im still buying. i just have a limited income and don't want to spend it all on 1 card when i can get it for 1/2 price elsewhere especially on the cards that aren't rare.

i've pretty much stopped selling though as i rarely sell on ebay(i find it VERY tough to sell on here for the most part) and have done almost no trading last few months mostly because im too lazy and no one can decide what value their going to use for it anyways.

I would list on ebay straight away if it wasn't for the scamstories I see/hear about way too often. At the moment I sell my cards for 40-80% off bv + s/h from Sweden cost way more to overseas then opposite direction. Seems nearly impossible to sell a card without firesaling.

Personally, for a while there I was buying up bait like crazy. Now, other than the odd pack(s), I only buy for my player PC, and even at that, I'm not willing to pay ridiculous prices (except for some very specific, very rare cards, that I really, really want).

I do think there will be a bump in the global economy in the relatively near term (next 6 months), that will come as a result of all of the capital projects being funded by the governments of Canada and the US, along with all the other large nations who have commited to large cash injections into their own respective economies. That bump will also likely result in a bump in many aspects of the economy, including our little hobby - all other things remaining equal. So although I'm not buying much, it is in my opinion, a great time to be doing so.

I have cut back on wax BIG time!! probably bought less than 20 boxes this season. Before I was buying at least 2 boxes of almost everything that came out. Not anymore.

Also, I have narrowed down the players I am buying online to 3. I still collect a lot of other players, but try to get their stuff in trade. If I get it I get it. If I don't, life goes on.
